Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo Out August 8 (XBL/PSN)

i thought between the 2 the 360 version was much better.

Really !?!!, I'm sorry but how did you come to that conclusion ?, I wouldn't normally jump on a comment like this but for once I actually think the PS3 got a decent version of an UT engine game that competes with the 360 quite competently for a change, B3D say both versions are running @ 720p, the frame rates seems to be about the same, screen cuttings seems to be about the same, textures look identical, in-fact the only real difference is that it appears that the 360 version seems to have selective 2xaa and subtle SSAO.

Technically the 360 version is better, but this time around the differences are negligible and the only thing that should sway you is your controller preference and whether you want the extra content or not.

About as identical as could be tbh, good to see it's a good multiplat for once, even the PC version is well optimized apparently.

The stubble on batmans chin is more detailed on the ps3 version.

We win again.

When comparing those two shots did you notice the ambient occlusion missing in the PS3 version ?, not a lot of people notice screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) until it's pointed out to them, it's only a subtle effect but it's a nice effect that can help add depth to the scene/objects.

Yeah but face stubble isn't a subtle effect, it's an AWESOME effect.

We win, now shush. :p

I only noticed it once you pointed it out, I was too busy investigating the detail on Batmans chin. More superheroes should trying growing beards.

Odd, I thought the PS3 version suffered from the usual Vaseline effect looking at the Digital Foundry shots on Eurogamer. But that's the version I shall still be getting, worry ye not PS3 Fanboys. :D

Here's a short basic video of how SSAO can effect a scene if you or anyone else is interested,

I really think a beard would suit him

Well don't quote me on this but apparently batman actually does grew more stubble during the course of this game.

Who wouldnt want to play as the joker though? I know its only the challenge rooms but come on its the joker! :D

Sorry i meant to say that i prefer the 360 version because quite simply the PS3 controller sucks dogs balls:p...from those pics they look similar but perhaps my bro hasnt got his lcd set up right because i found the 360 version a bit darker and more vivid compared to the PS3 version that to me looked a tad bit washed out. Plus the 360 version seemed much smoother than the PS3 version i played...saying that though my bro didnt keep the demo for long as he doesnt see himself buying it...whereas ive kept my demo as ill be playing it a little bit more tonight.

Does he grow handsome Bat-Pubes as well? :/

Talk about a useless feature to put in a game. Who ever thought of that must have been bored.

I'll let you off :p:D, I can't criticise your controller preference :), yes people have said there is a distinct difference between the two in terms of the gamma so when comparing them that needs to be matched and also the TV settings etc, once that is done they look pretty much the same, although like I said the 360 version does have selective 2xaa & SSAO so it is technically better, I'm just impressed with how well they handled the PS3 version this time, especially considering it's the UT engine.

Just a little added effect to add to the realism I guess, he spends the whole night in Arkham Asylum so I think they wanted to give him a slightly weathered look by the end of the game to help reflect a more realistic depiction of his stay there.

I guess. Does his cloths/armor get any damange effect to it? Like in the Wolverine game.

You died in the demo? RP! What are you doing?! :D

Completed it now. Not as clever as in those. Just jump down behind someone give them a few slaps, then a ground takedown and then jump back onto the Gargoyles. I was quite close to the end last time as I only had to kill that group of 5 guards.

The graphics in Detective mode are very cool but i don't like the mini cutscenes for some takedowns and stuff and the tapping X to open the cent shafts? Would Superman or Hulk have to tapping A to open such simple stuff ? :D

I can see this being repetitive in the long run but I got it ordered for £22 something so I am hoping I can sell it after it is completed without losing too much.

Why am I not surprised - rp fail ;):p

ps3ud0
:p I am awesome at most games. I was just a bit sidetracked by this demo as I question the superhero status of a man in a suit with a "utility" belt. I think these fundamental questions sidetracked me and led to me getting whooped. I completed it 2nd time :p
