Ruth and Andy

Quick question, how have you got the whole group in shot using only F/5.0, without any softness, Is it just the quality of Camera and Lens?

A combination of it being a wide angle (24mm) and the focal distance being quite far away will give increased depth of field compared to say, f/5 at 70mm with a focus point 3 feet away.

Super shots though, looking forward to seeing some more.

Can I pre-book you for my wedding please?? I have no idea when it will be, I'm not even engaged - but thought I'd get in there early!

Absolutely lovely photos :)

Raymond, do you have plans to do this full time?

Surely a wedding photographer who has talent like you could get away with doing 1-3 weddings a month and still be making quite a lot (especially considering you already have the foundations in place, so not a huge cost outlay to get started).

DO IT!!! :)

(Then employ me as an apprentice so I can learn how to be a good wedding photographer, then one day we'll have an argument over something and I'll start up a rival company and we can fight it out over local weddings, which will end in a final battle to the death, which I'll win, by thrusting my Canon 1DmkVIII into your heart, then I'll steal your clients and your camera gear and sell it on ebay (the camera gear that is, not the clients))

Great set of photos as everyone else has said. Only one question............................WHO THE HELL HAS AN ICE CREAM VAN AT A WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks guys, so much !!! AGAIN ! I knew i had something good in my camera when i left but i am gobsmacked myself on my own work when i got them into my iMac!

SS, i don't have plan to do this full time. Mainly for a couple of reasons, its not because I can't do it. I have proven it to myself i can this weekend. The shoot cannot be longer (arrived at house at 9am ish), finished at 12:30am next day, covered everything and I was the main official photographer for the wedding, not a friend who went along. I haven't taken it full time because i need a client base, a constant income, and bookings now are for next year so if anything, i have to do this part time until the bookings are solid enough to pay my bills before i could do it full time from a financial POV.

The other reason is that I LOVE photographing people, i admit it, I SUCK at landscape, landscape does not interest me. I can appreciate a good shot, and a nice shot, i can tell when its good and when its bad but because my passion is not in landscape, it shows in my photos. Now, I am passionate about photographing people, and one reason of it is that i don't do it everyday, I do it when i want to, and I suppose the element of fear is that I fear if I take this full time, will my photos be as good and consistent?

anyway, if you wanna chat, add me on msn SS :)

That makes complete sense about your plans if you have some regular bookings coming in for 2010. As you say, there is always a worry that if you do something you love for a living that you might not love it so much anymore :p

Cracking shot above as well, I love the processing you have done on these.

PS. Sorry for suggesting I'll stab you in the heart with my futuristic DSLR.

They're getting better and better Raymond. Phenomenal shots

Thanks, there are a few more but it's late !

Amazing photos as always dude. You rock at weddings and it's so nice to see a wedding album with colours, interesting angles and original subjects. Inside the ice cream van, as mentioned... awesome. I think my favourite is the couple on the dancefloor with the light above their head (or behind). Really nice!

Hello Raymond,

Excellent work. I can already see a style here which will be your unique selling point in the future.

Whilst I appreciate that it was a sunny day. Some these photos are too bright and over exposed for me. for example - #22 has bright highlights above the food which are very overpowering

Hi

Yeah, the "blown highlights" thing, I do it almost intentionally, as long as it is not where it matters (ie. the dress), I find it gives the photo some "pop" when mixed with with some deep blacks the photo. I do pay attention on where it is blown in all of them, in fact, i have noticed a few things on these which require slight adjustments on before i show them to the bride when they return from their honeymoon.
