Ruth and Andy

Hi

Yeah, the "blown highlights" thing, I do it almost intentionally, as long as it is not where it matters (ie. the dress), I find it gives the photo some "pop" when mixed with with some deep blacks the photo. I do pay attention on where it is blown in all of them, in fact, i have noticed a few things on these which require slight adjustments on before i show them to the bride when they return from their honeymoon.

With the particular style of photograph you are going for, I agree you will need to be very careful about the whites, particularly the dress. 19 & 20 are a case in point, I find myself a little distracted by the bright white.

A non-photographer may not even notice though!

Overall, a very pleasing set, and I'm sure the bride and groom will like them if these are anything to go by. :)

Thanks guys, so much !!! AGAIN ! I knew i had something good in my camera when i left but i am gobsmacked myself on my own work when i got them into my iMac!

SS, i don't have plan to do this full time. Mainly for a couple of reasons, its not because I can't do it. I have proven it to myself i can this weekend. The shoot cannot be longer (arrived at house at 9am ish), finished at 12:30am next day, covered everything and I was the main official photographer for the wedding, not a friend who went along. I haven't taken it full time because i need a client base, a constant income, and bookings now are for next year so if anything, i have to do this part time until the bookings are solid enough to pay my bills before i could do it full time from a financial POV.

The other reason is that I LOVE photographing people, i admit it, I SUCK at landscape, landscape does not interest me. I can appreciate a good shot, and a nice shot, i can tell when its good and when its bad but because my passion is not in landscape, it shows in my photos. Now, I am passionate about photographing people, and one reason of it is that i don't do it everyday, I do it when i want to, and I suppose the element of fear is that I fear if I take this full time, will my photos be as good and consistent?

anyway, if you wanna chat, add me on msn SS :)

I fully appreciate what you're saying here!

I'm actually the opposite to you, in that I'm not at my most natural photographing people, but love landscapes.

That said, weddings are the most wonderful occassions, and a very safe environment as nobody minds you sticking a camera in their face! This is where I feel at home, and I've done over 10 weddings now, most as the main photographer and although they are busy and hectic, and quite pressured, they are wonderful places to be.

I know what you mean about the worry that doing it professionally might take the enjoyment out of it though.

On a similar point, I had the opportunity to train as a forensic photographer recently. I 'shadowed' a couple of people who did the job already, and went to see what was involved in training etc, but to be honest the subject matter (a lot of it gruesome and depressing!) would have taken all the enjoyment out of photography for me, so I declined!! :( The kit they use was a wonder to behold though! :)

So, they we are, from weddings to murder scenes in one thread - only on OCUK!! :D

The dress on No 20 is blown (it is one of the "adjustments" I plan to do), it was 1am when i did that...which i will fix :)

Such clear and wonderful shots. Did the client of this wedding a close friend of yours? I've done a few family friend weddings (some part lead) and its nerve racking to get people calm and relax into a natural position.

Anyway enough of me, great work on the day! Did you get your money;s worth!?

Love how the ice cream man has a decent jacket on then a pair of shorts that you don't see :p

Cracking shots mate, makes me want to get better so much more (and own your camera but i dare say you woul do wonders with my D40 compared to yours!)

Looks like it was a fabulous wedding at a beautiful venue with wonderful guests and entertainment, fantastic weather and an absolutely brilliant photographer.
Anyone would be overjoyed with photos like these, well done Raymond :) I'm very envious of your talent!

Thanks, this is a friend of a friend of a friend.....I only met the Bride & Groom once prior to the wedding, and knew no one on the day. (though last night I found out the girl holding the beer bottle striking a pose, I did the LPC with her sister !) I did get my monie's worth, some of those shots came out miles better than I expected and I would not dream of such result. It'll look great on my website when i get them all done.

Very nice :)

Do you mind if I ask where the wedding was held? I think I recognize it but I'm not sure.

It was at this place.

Thanks, would it make it worst if i tell you it was my first time as a full at a wedding where I knew no one? The other times I was a guest.

All in honesty, I am overwhelmed and overjoyed how amazing these are turning out. I am processing these the past few days, and every single processing session I am finding gem after gem.

I also got a text from the Bride last night, who is currently on her honeymoon at the moment and saw them on Facebook yesterday. She loves every single one :)

I seriously cannot wait to get these finished and get them in print in an hardback album ! I will defintely get a copy for myself to keep, if anything show potential clients as a sample book.

I think you should leave the lens flare! :D

Whatever the 'rules' are that have been broken, the end result speaks for itself, which is a romantic picture that is interesting to look at!

Loving them! :)
