What film scared you the most as a kid?

Invasion of the Body Snatchers, not sure which version or if it was simply "Body Snatchers"...but it featured noodle-y things going into peoples ears/noses....freaked me the hell out:(

Still hate the idea of things going in my ears etc :p

Oh and another - Bodybags. The story where the flying things sucked out people's brains, and they were still able to function and think living inside these creature's stomachs whilst their de-brained corpses roamed around walking into walls.

The bit that stuck with me as the thing swooping down on these people as they're running away then tearing the backs of their heads off to suck out their brains. The noise was pretty terrifying.

Not sure how I've been able to repress that one for so long... hehe.

Jaws did.

Add that to a very bad childhood memory ( well I was 14 ish ) of seeing something happen in the sea on holiday.

Are the two seasons I don't do open water or swimming pools.

My friends and I used to get a scary film every Friday.

Once my mate's dad came back with pizza and The Exorcist, which needless to say scared the living hell out of us 14 year olds.

I remember watching terminator 2 when I was about 12 or so, the T1000 sticking his knife finger into the security guy's eye in the mental hospital was where I turned it off and thought "I wasn't read for that".

Mine was Terminator.

Watched it way too young. The cutting out his eye didnt bother me, what did was I thought the metal exoskeleton could be in my room when I went to bed.. so I just used to sit on the stairs.

To this day if I hear dogs barking at night I think Terminator.. :p

You sat on the stairs? .. With a pipebomb eh? ;)

Another film that scared my as a kid was DUEL, the Steven Speilberg movie about the car driver being terrorised by a big black lorry. Jaws on the road!

Interesting factoid... the short story was written by I Am Legend author Richard Matheson.

For me, and it's a popular one, it's Salem's Lot.

It was originally shown over a couple of nights. First part ended with the opening of the coffin.

But the floaty boy at the window scene was the one that chilled a younger me!

David Soul had a cool jeep though!

Went to see Ghostbuster with my Dad and my bro in the cinema I was 7 and my brother was 5 it scared the **** out of us I had nightmares for weeks that the terror dogs were sat on the end of my bed, cold sweats, screaming, sleepless nights - thanks dad

but the upside of it was that from about age 10 I saw most 18+ films and they didn't keep me up or give me nightmares. watched Aliens, Predator etc when it came out and loved every minute of it I loved sci-fi and couldn't get enough of it

I remember after watching Aliens for the first time going to sleep that night and wanting to be a marine to kick some alien hide!! - guess Ghostbuster had scarred me for life lol

roll on Predators next summer!!

Pet Semetary for me, I must have been about twelve at the time and saw it at a friends house. Needless to say I didn't sleep properly for about a month, and years later I still haven't mustered the courage to watch it again :D

Event Horizon and Critters. I can't remember how old I was when I saw each one (though obviously younger when I saw Critters) but good lord! I still can't watch Event Horizon actually lol.

Watership Down - "awwww a film about cute bunnies running around an- "OMGWTFARETHEYDOINGTEARINGEACHOTHERAPARTRABIES????!"

This. I must have been about 5 or 6. I just remember crying non stop for hours.

I saw American Werewolf in London when I was about 9 or 10 but it didn't scare me that much. Poltergeist though, I turned that off half way through because it was freaking me out so much.

To this day I haven't made it more than about 30mins into Arachnophobia. I do not like spiders.

poltergeist scared the hell outta me when i was a small kid, just the part where the girl got sucked into the tv, made me have nightmares for ages, i was around 7 when i watched it tho lol
