Ramadan Mubarak

I want to try and push myself with the fasting....but maybe this is nothing more than pre-fasting bravado and I'll be on the paratha's before you know it :p

I've not been back to the gym since Jan - other commitments and loss of interest, not to mention being charged £60 p/m for a poncy gym made me change my mind.
Oh wow, I haven't had a paratha for ages!

Bloody hell talk about being raped! I paid £90 for 6 months at the gym and it has everything free weights related . . don't hate me ;) :D

I put a request forward to Mehdi and you may find this of interest to yourself: http://stronglifts.com/ramadan-weight-lifting-training-build-muscle-lose-fat/

My biggest challenge will be planning in advance. You always end up getting a last minute iftar invite from somewhere!

Fast will break approx 8:25pm - Break Fast (Meal 1) with Dates/Water and light snack
8:25pm - Pray Maghrib
8:40pm - Meal 2 commences - A large meal consisting of protein/carbs
10pm - Meal 3 - Tuna/Mackeral/Cottage Cheese/Variety of carbs
10:30pm - Isha and Taraweeh
12am - Pre-bed Cottage cheese/Greek Yoghurt with mixed fruit
3:30am - Scrambled Eggs/Toast/Half litre full fat milk with 150g grinded oats/Mixed Nuts

That should see me through my intake if I can stick to the plan :o

I said this last year and I'll say it again this year, im determined not to put weight on this year:p

Im going with a nice big clean breakfast and a nice clean dinner (clean ie nutritional), im gonna get on with my compounds and running.

Its a good time of year to spend with the family, and also appreciate what you have got, Ive done some travelling this year and some of the poverty throughout the world has really opened my eyes.

I find it difficult for about 3 days and then im into the swing of things, the difficult bit for me is keeping on top of the religious aspect, praying etc, im going to try not to miss any evening prayers.

I might buy a pack of the ready-made ones, but I do love eating them...only not during fasting.

Diet wise it looks good, but I think you're going to wear yourself out as you will only have 3.5hrs sleep before the morning meal. Will you be going back to sleep or taking an afternoon nap?

No, he's posted quite a few times about going out and getting very drunk and also doing silly things when drunk. I just thought it was rather bizarre that he can quite happily brag about not following that particular tenet and yet claim that he'll quite happily try to follow this one even though it's going to be difficult for him.

How many self-claiming Christians have told a lie? *shrug*

Have a good one!

Bledd, trust me you're not going to die. Just try it for 12 hours. It's going to be hard at first. Then you will get used to it. Ramadan is my fav month.

I know the human body can last a few days without water, but I have no large intestine you see, so I get super thirsty :):(

One of my teachers is a Muslim and keeps to Ramadan strictly. No food or water all day, in a computer suite with 30 PC's and no air-conditioning. Kudos to him for keeping to it :)

Also remember what its like for the Western people living in Arab countries where they impose their religion.... one of my friends lives over there and there's nothing available to eat during the day at Ramadan despite him not being a Muslim... and of-course there's the whole executions, hands being cut off, no-whistling, women not allowed to drive, not allowed to speak to women, women not allowed in swimming pools (even Western women in a Western hotel) stuff that happens all year round.

My experience in the UAE is that, the hotels pretty much allow you to do anything. But thanks for the rant anyway:p

Sorry to take this off-topic a bit

Thats complete drivvel based on my trips to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah :p You're friend can't have lived there very long or is being dramatic
Anyone can eat what they want provided it isn't in a public place in view, as such most resteraunts that are open and the majority of hotels will have screened off areas for people to eat in.
a lot of local resteraunts and cafe's however shift their opening hours to later for obvious reasons

women not allowed to drive, not allowed to speak to women,
Absolute rubbish, i can tell you for a fact that women drive in abu dhabi to name one place alone

No... you can do what you like in the hotels and on the private beaches the hotels own, you pay them 5 dhr or something trivial and you can go on there
Public beaches are different, but free

Again, AFAIK UAE is a fair bit more relaxed than Saudi.

My friend lives in one country, and works in another. One of them is Saudi.

you said 'Arab Countries' ;)

hehe ;)

Think we better leave it there tbh :)

Saudi's attitude to what we regard as normal has been well documented for a long long time, so why go and work there if you dont like it there? I'd ask the same question of those immigrants here that dont like our decadent ways.....

Absolutely my experience.

In fact people are encouraged to drive (certainly women) so as not to be seen a sharmoota or something else. Driving is common and almost the law in Saudi!

Fair play to them, its their country if we (westerners) dont like it we can always go home..
