Really? Maybe I've watched too much subtitled stuff but I can do both at the same time. I can practically read subtitles in my peripheral vision lol.

... half the time I tend to forget I'm reading and do it unconsciously ... helps that when you've watched enough you pick up some phrases which you just recognise instead of relying on the subs for ...

Can anyone help me find a anime from my childhood?

I first seen it when i was very little, early 80's. From 84-89 range. (born in 82 so doubt it would be then lol)

My uncle had this anime film all i remember is that it had some robots like those from ulysses 31 i think and maybe the blue people im not 100% sure. I loved it but lost the tape and i dont know where my uncle is as he is awol.

I used to think it was ulysses 31 but im sure it was a film. So maybe something like ulysses 31 that is a film perhaps or something?

Something tho of Leiji Matsumoto anime style seems to be linked. I searched through all the titles he made but dont think it was anything there. But the women eyes style seems familiar.

Im sure it was a space anime.

That is rather annoyingly giving me a vague bell ring, could it have been one of the anime series that was butchered down from a TV run to a movie length and completely changed?

It might be worth looking at stuff other staff on some of Matsumoto's works have done (especially key animators/directors), and keeping an eye open for "released as*" type remarks.

Interstella 5555 (i.e Daft Punk) came to mind but that was around 2000 so not likely unless your uncle was a time traveller.

Generally i am the same, but with spice and wolf i have to really read it properly otherwise i can get quite lost.

EDIT - i have been doing some reading on the internet and it the first series seems to cover the first 2 books, seeing as there's 10 book so far it can go on for quite a while!

I've started watching the second season as i couldn't wait, there's onlt 2 more episodes left anyway.

After this i'll be moving on Ah! My Goddess. I think i know now what kind of anime i enjoy. Romance/adventure types were a bloke gets involved with a girl that's not quite human

Chobits
DearS
Spice and Wolf
Ah! My Goddess

Any others like this?

With Ah! My Goddess are you talking movie, OVA or TV series .... personally I prefer the two TV series.

You can add Please Teacher to the list of possibles too.

In order of date released it came out like this:

AMG OVA1
Mini Goddess
AMG Movie
AMG S1 (TV)
AMG S2 (Flights of Fancy)
AMG OVA2 (Fighting wings)

The original OVA covers the first sort of half of S1 in a very condensed form, with the new characters popping up a little confusingly. You could probably skip watching this but there's an ep or two worth of material that didn't pop up in Season 1. Watch it first if you really want to.

Mini Goddess is a pretty pointless mini series, it's not especially great or funny but it has the three Goddesses if that's what matters to you. Watch it after the OVA1, or if you skip OVA1 watch at any point after being introduced to all the characters.

The Movie is a side story on AMG, you should probably watch it after the two TV seasons. Same with OVA2.

OVA2 is only available subbed atm, so if you want to keep the same voice actors throughout watch the whole thing subbed. The dub is quite good though, better than most and OVA2 is only a couple of eps.

I would point out that the reason why the Fighting Wings OVA is not dubbed like the rest is because it has not been licensed and hence is only available in other forms ... hopefully it will be licensed eventually now that Funimation have licensed rescued the second season.

Im watching slayers original and almost done, i have the collection but not sure what is next to watch. What is next to watch in the slayers collection?

I watched some of FLCL due to it being recommended as similar to eureka 7 on myanime lists and I thought it was just rubbish. I'm all for insane things but it just didn't work in any way manor or form for me.

I don't think I've made it past the first couple of episodes at the moment ...

I'm afraid I'm going to have to re-plug Cromartie Highschool in this thread because it is the absolute pinnacle of comedy and awesomeness.

If you thought Full Metal Panic Fomofu was funny...NO! if you thought yakitate Japan was funny then think again :D

Insane amounts of injokes and media/trivia referencing and highly clever to boot!
