World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread

While part of me is finding it very hard to be excited about the new expansion, I do like some of the game play changes they're making.

While, many will argue they are making it "too easy" and catering for "casuals" which is true to a certain extent, it feels like they're making it more stream line and want to focus more on how talent tree's affect your play.

The changes to the old world, well, meh. It looks pretty good, I've been wanting changes for a long time, I'm just not 100% nailed on with the law, or the lack of law, or in fact why we need two more races (which both look very cool) or why they're making changes to classes which make little sense.

Law ? what law ?!

Anyway, I'm not forming an opinion just yet, I'm just very "meh" about it all. I'm not excited and probably won't be for some time, Wrath got me excited.

Will give a better opinion on the whole matter once I've played it, ( I will actually buy it when it comes out, unlike the Burning Crusade which I left ).

assuming you mean 'lore'?

The new 4 min trailer posted above shows a lot of the new water affects, looks quite a lot better than the repeating crap we have currently.

Like the guild talent tree with acheivement stuff, sounds pretty cool.

I'd wonder how they will base that though, in my guild there only about 90 members as we trying to keep a regular group (about 30% are alts). If 1 guild have 150 lvl 80's and 1 had 40 will that affect anything?

Sounds like they stole the guild leveling idea from warhammer online!

haha sorry I've had a drink :p yes Lore :D

New water effects do look nice, I think this is a very (cheap) way of a graphical overhall ;) they're remaking old world content, which truth be told does look dated compared to the new stuff.

90 members ? :p my raiding guild has 30 :D

No alts, just mains, and you're removed if you're offline for too long :o

Not sure about the guild thing, honestly feel it will just feed the leet kids.

Dunno what to think of this. Had my account off for a month now, kinda miss it for the banter I get with the people. I don't, however, miss wiping on a boss that should be on farm because a few people can't learn to play!

Will probably put my account on when I get my pc next week but I intend to play mostly other games over wow!

I think it goes off the xp earnt off the 20 highest players.

levelling a dwarf hunter in prep for cataclysm :D

the archeology prof and a lot of the titan lore will be directly relevant to the ole dwarves of Ironforge

to be honest the archeology prof sounds like a skill you would be stupid to pass up on. mmm more details are required :D

I'm still not sure what to think on this. One side of me thinks HOLY CRAP HC SFK !!! on the other hand I keep thinking HOLY COW !! .... HC SFK !!!!!!

I think the heroic SFK is the main thing I am looking forward to :p

Still dont like the idea of holy cows though. I think for now there is too little detail. I shall await more info :) in the mean time I've seen a few people ALREADY saying meh "no point getting new gear as its all gunna be pointless when new expansion comes out"

Same here. Probably the best instance in terms of design from Original WoW.

Im loving the idea. There will also be a race change service comming after the faction change. I think my belf tankadin is gonna be a cow come the expansion.

And those people are fools. Getting the best gear before the expansion means leveling up, you shard/vendor all the quest gear, thus earning more cash. Plus you will breeze through the quests since they are designed for people in greens.

You can earn a ton of gold off the AH if your a enchanter or miner and your one of the few people to get to the level cap early. Doing mining in Icecrown when the majority of players are still sub level 75 was bliss.

I'm tempted to go back for low level world pvp. Which sounds great in theory, but I'll get sucked into the levelling and hit the cap and stop playing. PvP in Stranglethorn is more fun than the endgame.

To be honest while I quit months ago, the idea of deathwing and completely revamped new world is actually beginning to excite me. Goblins for horde and something to do with Gilneas, one of the few standing human kingdoms, had been anticipated for years.
The new stat tweaks do look a bit dumbed down, but then they seem to be attempting a return to what was successful in the past before everything became a bit OTT. As a player of the original games, who enjoyed the setting, the setting and changes of Cataclysm are looking more interesting to me by far than the scifi twist to TBC or the chase Arthas but oh wait you cant of WOTLK.
The new additions like guild levelling will hopefully add a bit more depth beyond gear to the game also. More dragons and them finally redoing old world heroics are overdue are also a good step. SFK was a great instance most Ally players barely saw because of distance, back before they made travelling faster.
Might buy a new account and return come release.

I've just noticed they're bringing Nefarian back too. How the hell does this work? We killed him in vanilla WoW, like, actually killed him, looted his head and everything.

a lot of these features seem really late, would have been good back when I used to play the game. It doesn't make me want to play the game again now tho, oh well.

Nah...you see...that was merely ONE physical embodiment of him. His spirit lives on and can return as many times as Blizzard wants it to. (The same also applies to every other boss in the game). Its the story telling equivalent of the waking up in the shower and it was all a dream scenario :D

BS ! Me and some guildies just killed him the other night. He is still there :p
