World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread

No they are not, remember a blue where they clearly stated that this will never happen ...

erm..... they said at blizzcon it is something they do want to allow. After they did the change from horde to alliance

They also said that you would never be able to go from PVE > PVP realm that change. They said that they would never allow you to have alliance and horde on a PVP realm that changed.

Its all about money. If there is a demand for ppl wanting to change their race Blizz will implement it

I've just noticed they're bringing Nefarian back too. How the hell does this work? We killed him in vanilla WoW, like, actually killed him, looted his head and everything.

Just a setback apprantly.... :o

Blizzard changing their mind to milk yet more money from their players? Surely not.

Part of me wants to get back into WoW, it;s just that everything was so imbalanced. All of the casuals got catered for and those who weren't casual just found the game getting easier and more boring.

The worst changes so far, though, have been PvP imo. Resilience and arenas and the new honor system all suck.

So blizzard are milking it all they can before the levels get up to 100 now. zzz

Milking it? Blizzard are one of the few MMO companies that are actually in-tune with their playerbase, and can release expansions that actually improve the game rather than totally destroy it. This new expansion brings along a lot of much needed change to the gameplay and story of WoW. I am really looking forward to it all. Fair enough, TBC wasn't all that great but WotLK is pretty good and it looks as though Cataclysm is going to be even better.

And all this casual-player bashing is completely unnecessary. Why is it such a bad thing for both hardcore and casual players to be able to get enjoyment out of the game? Sure, casual players can now have access to the best gear, but it takes them a lot longer to get it than if they were in a hardcore raiding guild. I would bet that more than half of the playerbase is made up of casual players and therefore Blizzard need to keep both sides happy.

Indeed, it's going to be rubbish. Glad I'm done with WoW.

Care to elaborate rather than make stupid claims with no real opinions or detail to back it up.

Its amazing the amount of people that are so Anti-blizz its remarkable.

(dons FANBOI flame suit....)

This would be fine if it wasnt the fact that the most vocal members of said playerbase are £$%^ing annoying idiots who want, and expect everything given to them on a plate with little or no work involved.

People get annoyed at Blizzard because they cave in to these whiners.

I'm sure they said 'can't' due to technical reason, not never.

Now the technical reasons have gone...we have mounts.

The reason they always quoted was a lot of the views were fake. Like the back drops in Stormwind. They going to have to build them for real now. So, while it might look the same it technically not the same game world.

It's like the Two Ronnies sketch with John Cleese, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbet stood in a line

Blizzard look down upon the hardcore raiders and the casual players, the hardcore raiders look up to Blizzard but look down on casual players, casual players look up to both the hardcore raiders and blizzard.

Exactly, in my books Blizzard stood by their word. You will never be able to fly in (old) Azeroth.

By the way, my guild is about to implode, so I am looking for a raiding guild (I am prot warrior, killed everything up to YS 25, first 3 bosses on ToC 10/25). Do let me now through trust email if you know of a nice guild please

I'm actually excited for this.

Particularly about being able to show off my R14 Gnome Rogue with some modicum of meaningful achievement :p. May even try and go for the Battle-Master achievement title whilst I wait for the launch of the new expansion! And of course, the proposed 'Rated Battlegrounds' are great, for all of us old-school enthusiasts that just found the Arena system and Resilience-reliance a little tedious and somewhat lacking in feel.

I rolled and played a blood-elf mage through TBC/WotLK, and ended up canceling my subscription several times throughout. TBC was a sci-fi mess and WotLK just seems like an unimaginative, Viking-themed, homogenous bore. Hopefully the magical 'spark' of nostalgic Azeroth, plus the fact they're only adding 5 levels, will allow them to home in on really delivering good quest-content and instances/encounters, rather than the drivel that was 70-80: "Here, have a green quest reward that will not aesthetically change appearance from now until you being guild-raiding".

The extra paid-services to change Faction/Race may give me a chance to blow the dust off the aforementioned belf mage as well. Gnome mage here I come :D.

I resubbed out of boredom and found you can now get a mount at level 20. For 5g.
2 hander weapons are now up to what, 250dps with +200 to stats (distributed)? So, why play the game at all? I mean, in 6 months, I can sign up and get everything you can now but for 10% of the cost and effort.

I'm just going to concentrate on questing with friends and some PVP and not bother with the endgame PVE race anymore.
