World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread

the game is to easy they should have found some middle ground.

even humans stopped running in fear in wotlk incase you managed to get an add and die while soloing.

seriously in the emerald expansion hp will stop at 1 and you will never die, raiding is pretty much XXXX DPS and the mob dies , below XXXX dps and your raid dies.

world of gear check

raiding is always about gear check, in everquest which is basically the model WoW was created on, raiding was gear check and WoW has followed it since release. I don't know how you can have progression in raiding without gear checks.

I love wow, I think its awesome and I cant wait for the expansion :)

I have been playing since release, got into raiding back in the days of molten core/bwl/aq 40 but after expansion didn't raid at all, so I'm now what you would call a casual player.

I am however also quite a good player, but due to having a girlfriend/social life and spending 9 hours a day at work, I do not have the time to raid 3-5 times a week, for 4 hours a night.

I appreciate the dedication of people who do, but to do this you have to severely neglect every other aspect of your life! I.e. you don't turn up to raids for 3 times in a row? You get kicked or sidelined for someone else.

This is why I love the way that wow is now, being able to get good gear through only being able to run a few hc's a day or running naxx 10/25 allows me to actually keep my character at a good level, and not get left behind just because I cant raid 10-15 hours a week, and having such good gear means that if a space comes up in an uldar raid, I can get accepted (as it did last night, 8 bosses down with a pug!) and actually enjoy some of the harder experiences that are in the game! GG Blizzard tbh

Also, I really hope that they get rid of the "additional instances cannot be launched" error, because I managed to get my girlfriend to play some wow, and this almost made her quit the game, having to keep trying to get in an instance for 5-10 minutes in un-acceptable, especially when you are playing £8 a month to play!

Your post is bang-on exactly the same situation that I'm in. I used to be a raider (not hardcore, but 3 nights a week from 18:30 to 23:30) but I stopped doing that before TBC came out. I know how to play my classes and I really enjoy the game, and I am impressed that Blizzard have finally realised that their greatest playerbase is full of casuals and that they need to start making things accessible to them as well. The gear you can get now still requires skill and ability to attain because you've got to run Heroics, but it takes a lot less dedication and time to get fairly decent gear now. I like the game this way as it means I can still get nice gear but not play every night and day.

Id say that C'thun was probably the hardest boss fight i've seen in the game, pity things are so easy now really.

C'Thun ruined my life :P.

I'm tempted to resubscribe and try this 'casual' approach to the game - I have enough other things going on IRL to fill the void that the 'hardcore' aspect of the game has left in TBC/WotLK. I may even run through and do some Xbox360-stye achievement farming, haha! May as well play the game the way Blizzard have redesigned it, playing against the grain is only going to affect your own enjoyment. There is no hardcore anymore- I'll just carry on logging on when I get the urge, proudly displaying my Grand Marshal title, /lol'ing at the new generation of players that idle in Dalaran/Shatt/Org/Ironforge and display their ultra-exclusive T8 gear :P

Er you what? I can only assume you've never done a heroic in Wotlk as the only requirement is to keep your eyes open and either spam aoe damage, aoe tank ability or throw out the odd generic homogonised healing spell.
Skill being a requirement for heroics died with TBC..heroics are now just token vending machines.

You know how they say "Assumption is the mother of all **** ups"? Well, I see that it's still true.

I've been running a lot of heroics recently, from some of the older WotLK instances to TotC, and sure, while some have been with high-geared Guild members, I still have to do way more than just keep my eyes open as a healer. We've been doing TotC 5-man and yes, it can be fairly straight forward, but it can also cause a lot of problems with the amount of AoE damage that gets handed out from time-to-time on a few of the bosses.

So I disagree with your generic comment of how easy heroics are in WotLK. Some are fairly straight forward, but some aren't.

Heroics have never really been 'difficult', not even by concept. All they require over standard instance-running is that you can't blindly cakewalk it by being lazy and spamming nonsense. You have to pay a modicum of attention to threat and have some awareness, but it's not even comparable to the gradient of skill and class-knowledge that was required to get epics in the vanilla content.

I'm pleased you find them a challange.

I only ran MC, BWL and AQ in vanilla WoW, and really enjoyed these but it needed a lot of time dedicated to doing that and I simply don't have that time to spare anymore. I have recently returned to the game some months ago and have started getting my Priest geared again.

I'm pleased you find them a challange.

I do from the point-of-view that my gear at the beginning wasn't all that great. It is getting easier now, but if I wasn't given the access to the better gear, I would be stuck in the older gear that I previously had. It's still a lot of fun and I like the fact that I can experience slightly harder content and spend under an hour doing so. It suits my lifestyle perfectly as I really can't be bothered being a proper raider anymore.

That opinion, shown in the quote you quoted is a much similar to the majority then your opinion which is "too easy".

The majority of players that play world of warcraft are causal, and are not in to "hardcore raiding" they play for fun and to be social.
You are in the minority, Blizzard released heroic dungeons for those players, I very much doubt you've done all the heroic dungeon's of if you have well done.

Basic business, cater for the majority, not the minority.

You think warcraft is too easy, go and play something else and stop trolling this thread with "too easy" comments.

healing in heroics isnt easy and you have to concentrate a lot but it isnt exactly hard either , tanking and dps takes barely any thought.

in mmos of old pulling was an art in itself in wow its like an assembly line

1.Live in the country and by the time I get into town shops will be closed
2 Want it now.
3.I got money in my paypal account

I'm sure you can do the online upgrade on the WoW website through your account management? Although it might be more expensive than it would be to just buy in the shop.

Fair comment. I actually was being sincere - I wish I had the time and motivation to level up from scratch again to rediscover the challenge to the game and approach things "freshly dinged" again(and no i dont much fancy trying heroics naked..)

Please accept my humble apologies for having a differing opinion to your own.
I will also brush up on my spelling as it is clearly very relevant and important to this discussion.
