Well that was a waste of bandwidth, installed the patch and the game CTD when i try to join a server.

Same here. Well my crash comes few seconds into actually being in a server, right when the spawn map should come up. Singleplayer works just fine.. sigh. Punkbuster updated, completely clean BF2 install without previous files, latest drivers on everything.

Its taken them this long to release a new patch, and i still can't connect to any servers

I had high hopes the server issues would have been sorted out...


ps... My Battlefield 2 complete collection was already installed, before updating with the newest patch.

Can tab out when in the browser but once on an actual server and tab out then i can't get back on and have to stop bf2.exe.

Seems to be an issue with AA, disable that and it works.

Can't live without AA in BF2, so a no go for me.

First Impressions

Wow. Very pleased with this patch so far. I never had performance problems before but after this patch everything still manages to seem so much smoother and slicker and quicker! In fact at first I even thought they maybe increased the run speed. This could be because I've gotten used to Project Reality though.

Operation Blue Pearl seems a good map with a nice balance between infantry and vehicle combat, and I love that they've included the booster packs for free now. I had already bought them, but could never find a server running them after a couple of months of them originally being released. So I'm so glad I finally get to play Great Wall again!

Widescreen support is a plus too. I had used the fix beforehand but somehow it does look a bit better now.

What I'm really looking forward to is the next PR patch though occasionally my game would CTD every hour or so beforehand, which wasn't so bad for core BF2 but in PR it's extremely frustrating since the game is so absorbing and it's hard to get back into a server again as they're always packed. I'm hoping this CTD has been fixed although I haven't played long enough to find out yet.
