ps3 better than pc BS

Since when did you have to constantly upgrade a PC?

You do know that games have options for graphics? It's not forcing you to run the highest settings for every game

Meh, you can buy a £250 PC now that'll whip the pants of the current consoles. OcUK even have a pre-built one for £300.

And thats when the graphics come into play, The lower you lower the graphics on the PC to allow the game to run, The worse the graphics become in comparison to PS3, Also its dependent on Monitor size, How bigger resolution you'll have and how well the graphics will hold up at that resolution size. PS3 runs most it's games perfectly at a yummy 720

Also, A PC costing £250, In 3 years time do you think it'll be able to run games on par with PS3?

I didn't really want to get involved in this, but I seem some rather dubious points being raised.

720p. Seriously. You'd have to lower the graphics on a PC game down pretty low to get to the level of a console tbh.

As for the comment about system cost - you don't just buy a PC to game do you? Whereas consoles are primarily for gaming, with some basic media functionality.

Regardless, the 8800GTS 320mb I bought two and a half years ago would still run all the games on the market at 720p at least, so there :D

People bash PCs far too much - all these comments about upgrading irritate me. People upgrade more because they want to than because they have to. PC gamers usually love their hardware - simple as. And PCs are not as unreliable as the endless bashing makes out.

I mean - damn - the 360 failure rate is over 50%. It's appalling - if my PC was that likely to fail, I'd chuck it in the bin!!

Perfectly? Sorry it doesn't GTA IV was a mess and other games have had slowdown from time to time.

and yes a PC costing £250 in 3 years time should be alright, just so long as you aren't planning on running the likes of a Crysis game (ones that are pushing tech on big time) at high settings, the likes of console ports are going to be fine as long as they are well done. As I said the 8800GTX is 3 years old and runs Devil May Cry 4, Street Fighter IV, Resi 5 (Benchmark) and Batman: Arkham Asylum very well, but to be fair they are actually very well made for the PC and not half arsed ports.

OK, go make me a gaming PC for £249, including the necessary OS and compare them.

It's a pre-build, usually costs more than doing it yourself, it even has a MUCH better graphics card than the 8800GTX

You could probably go into the low 200's if you went for a cheaper graphics card, again like the 8800 series, they are still good cards after all.

Edit: Mind you I should say they have rebranded the 8800 series to the 9800 now I believe.

Oh and I cba to go make a PC :/ It can easily be done if you go for budget parts. No problem.

Said my piece, nothing more to add to this thread it'll only end up with more people bringing up the same stupid points.

My comment was less about the actual resolution and more about the fact the game is running as the developer wished it to :p

As for the GTA4 comment above, We all know that runs like pooh, But what about hundreds of games on PS3 that run fine

Um isnt that PC £350( normally £379) and doesnt come with keyboard/Mouse or an OS. If you just add on the missing features from the PS3 such as BD and wireless it gets closer to £450, not that you require either.
It should only ever be about games not what you play them on, you cant compare a PS3 or any console for that with a PC as PC are not standard spec so it could be some 10yr old PC or a £2K monster PC. Just be happy with what you game on if you cant afford to have all the systems just enjoy the ones you have rather than acting a fanboy.

GTA4 runs very well for me. read thishttp://uk.gamespot.com/news/6136786.html
and since ur eyes can only see around 60fps, with the healthy eye it does seem foolish to have 120fps, if ur not going to notice it.

Thats 2005, PS3 came out in 2006 and it doesnt do near that lol, Rarely does 60.

Also, GTA4 was unfortunately hit and miss on PS3 and 360, slow down, glitches, PS3 was upscaled too i believe, from sub 720

It's hard to say what is better when it's ultimately subjective, either one being cheaper or more expensive doesn't determine which is the 'best', that's just one of the perks of that particular system/set-up, end of the day it comes down to what type of games you prefer, how you prefer to experience them, if I was ten years younger I would have said PC hands down as a personal preference, but as I'm getting older I'm growing tired of upgrading my PC.

I know you don't always 'need to' upgrade but the problem with PC games is the temptation to max out their settings which creates a pull to upgrade therefore increasing the outlay, having that choice taken away from me on a console feels like a godsend sometimes because I just accept the game as it is and usually end up enjoying it more as a result, even though it is of lessor quality.

lol i can see how u think that but i have xbox 360, ps2,n64.
and at that time i hated pc gaming till i bought my first pc lol

so you were a console fanboy til you bought a pc? ;)

seriously though, its quite obvious a pc is 'better' than a ps3 but sometimes its easier to just buy a console and forgot about needing a new gfx card, ram or cpu to get a game to run well
i gave up upgrading the pc about 3-4 years ago and my old rig would struggle to tun todays games at a half decent setting while a similarly aged 360 (assuming its not red ringed ;) ) would still play anything current
i will concede that the pc does churn out decent strategy games that the consoles do lack but for value a console is better IMO
my kids have an xbox 360 each, can you imagine financing a decent gaming rig for each?

PS i would still LOVE a ninja gaming pc i just cant afford/justify it with a young family as you may find in time :D

ok iv got into an argument on weather a pc is better than a ps3 at collage.

I suggest you go back to studying, preferably English, at "collage" rather than worrying about what console is better than the expensive PC that Mummy bought for you.

Indeed.

Now instead of arguing which is better, just go and enjoy it - because at the end of it all, does it matter if your PS3 is better than a PC or vice versa if you get a lot of enjoyment and happiness out of it?

PS3 for me :)

Much prefer sitting on a sofa gaming or watching blu-rays on a 46" TV than sitting on office chair hunched over a 19" monitor.
