The flag itself isn't chavvy.
It's the chavs that go round wearing fake burberry and therefore the flag is associated with 'chavs'
Real designer burberry costs a bomb.
I haven't seen anyone wearing great Britain flags recently either.

See, it just doesnt work. Leave the Union flag alone, there is nothing wrong with the flag, only peoples perceptions of it.
I'm reasonably patriotic but I really dislike the design of our flag. Surely I am not alone in this? I almost feel embarrassed by it at international sporting events.
It's nothing to do with the unfortunate nationalistic associations it has picked up, I just find it really brash and tasteless. Why can't we have something interesting like the Welsh or Canadian flag? Or something iconic, simple and understated like the Japanese?
At least we don't have an unoriginal tricolour flag I guess.
Most retarded statement ever?![]()
why not read up and see what it stands for ! its our heritage embrace or sod off
You dont care about the people who died for this country, who inevitably are you relatives, fighting for you and your children for what they believed would be a better world? Err.. you're a bit of a character..
Perhaps you should have been born in Nazi Germany instead, into a jewish family, then that could be your norm.
People unwilling to make a sacrifice, or even acknowledge one for their 'country' is probably the major reason why its going downhill, people are unwilling to fight for a better future.
Pathetic.
Soooo you're saying his right to dissent or even be outright apathetic shouldn't exist? The same right that people fought and died for?
I would say this looks all too much like that type of forced American flag-worship jingoism or the sort of 'patriotism' the Daily Mail/BNP types like to preach about.
id class this more of being ignorant and self centered, something which nobody fought for. its plain rude to not even acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice, if something like that happened again someday soon its people like this which will inevitably lead to the loss of freedom for all.
Its not forced flag worship or anything, but I think everyone within this country who appreciates the freedoms they are afforded and the way of life they have should acknowledge and appreciate why they have these freedoms, and to who'm they owe the appreciation.
I'll say it again, it is neither of those things. It's cloth with red and blue materials scrambled on it. I didn't realise people connected their whole beings to it.
Not quite, but close! But technically the soldiers in WW2 also died for our right to vote yet lots of people in this country don't vote. Are you saying they are in some way disrespectful? I tend to think of that as the politicians fault rather than the public's.
It just is. The most important thing in a battle was to protect the Colours/Standard, always has been. Watch Zulu Dawn! It's a metaphor for the country/Empire/people, whatever.I'm curious how fighting for your country/beliefs = fighting for the flag :/
I will not judge anyone for not voting, it is after all their right. I am confused by them though!
