mondeo 1.8 misfire

not as yet, trying to figure out the problem,as i said earlier just a bit choked at low revs now.any suggestions?

Well the misfiring was OK before, I could live with it, just dropped an extra gear or slid the clutch a little more at junctions and it wouldn't do it (misfiring on mine stops around 1600-1700rpm), but its starting to get worse - despite you having no luck I will try changing the coil pack and will keep you updated...

LOL at the pure hatred of Vectras

I'm not seeing how that constitutes hatred of vectras - he was just pointing out that a vectra isnt going to be inherantly more reliable than a mondeo. In fact the statistics would suggest the opposite to be the case

A compression test is simply one step in diagnosing the problem. It will either let you know what the underlying problem is, or rule out another possibility.

missfire is a problem with the ignition system, which is going to be either, spark plugs, leads or coil pack. i once had a service does from halfords, they changed plugs oil etc.

car was fine before it went in for the service. it came out missfiring. lashed the guys in the shop and got some cash back. went to ford and bought original plugs and leads. changed and car was fixed.

when dealing with these zetec engines i found even those magnacore super dooper leads are more hassle than they are worth compared to genuine parts. and stuff like splitfire plugs etc i found to be a waste of time. best to get the originals.

you may still have a problem with your leads and plugs. id suggest you change them to genuine ford parts and then take things from there.

do note that if my memory serves me right the mondeos have a secondary coil pack too. cant be too sure but you can google and check to confirm if the mondeos have primary and secondary coil packs.
