Ever lost an internet acquaintance?

Someone I knew through Quake 3 committed suicide the other year. I used to speak to him most nights, he started disappearing and getting harder to track down then I found out about a year later what happened. I always knew he was up and down emotionally but never realised that

Quite a few. Being quite active back in the days of the CFS series, both on modelling and skinning scene, I knew quite a lot of older guys who were veterans of WWII, both here and over the pond, and sadly there's a lot of them who aren't with us anymore.

Also lost a few internet friends in Iraq and Afghanistan too.

In my case, I'm actually the guy who does the vanishing. Sometimes I just can't be bothered to sign into Xfire or MSN, but when I do a few months later, I get a few e-buddies who have known me for years asking where I've been.

I'm currently in a can't-be-bothered-to-sign-into-Xfire phase at the moment, having last signed into it about 27 days ago.

Never known anyone myself to have completely disappeared, though.

Is this Thrash? sad times if so used to play on his server in the small hours of the morning every night for months was a tight regular crowd.

same here... but I never really became friends with anyone over the internet, either I knew them in real life, or they merely stayed acquaintances.

And an acquaintance from Yahoo chat ages ago died of cancer, he was only young.

Clan I used to play in lost one of their members, he was one of the best guys to play BF series and TF2 with, passed away earlier this year, rest in peace =XDC=Mugworth !

I play QL now and again, have fits of playing it every night for a week then won't touch it for a couple of weeks heh.
