Derren Brown - outdone himself this time?

It could have been a 50mph road, no?

That would mean everyone who saw the traffic cop would slow down to the speed limit, or just under. This would explain how he spotted someone going 50mph and the other going 49mph. It would have been better if he spotted a wider range of speeds.

As for "I'll tell you the year" trick.. he was on a bridge with his back to the lanes when "listening" to the car sounds. He could have easily waited until the car passed under the bridge and caught the rear numberplate. As always it was his execution that was the best bit :o

I know I didn't post it here but that's what I said to my daughter at the time.
They've seen the cop and slowed down to the speed of the road.
He even said twice that they were going faster but slowed down - I wonder why?

I found the 50mph thing a bit odd as speedos are usually out a bit, so if it had been a 50mph road then some would have been doing 50mph indicated would be more like 45-48 in real life. Also I'd expect the lorry that was in it to be doing the speed limit as they do have more accurate speedos, so if it was a 50 limit I'd expect them to be doing bang on 50 and obviously anyone else overtaking would be above that.

We need to remember that DB's tricks are just tricks. And think of a simple explanation.

He didn't predict the roulette just like he didn't predict the lottery. It's all a show - no more. Entertaining for some perhaps!

This is true, the only thing which seems to be different with this series is the apparent reliance on camera trickery/editing/splicing/set up which though classed as "showmanship" are taking what could be an impressively pheasable "how did he do that?" style trick to a "that's just been edited, any bugger could do that" style setup.

His show has lost the flavour for me since this new series.

It's not really even entertaining any more, there's nothing unique about it any more ever since he went too out there in the public, it was better when it was small time, more believable.

Darren Brown - Real or a load of crap?

Its on now where he has just hypnotised someone to go and get him to withdraw £5000, give him it and then forget.

Why hasnt he been arrested for fraud/robbery?
If he can do things like this and make a guy steal a TV then why doesnt he go and get 100k off some millionaires?

One of my housemates thinks its a load of rubbish, the other thinks its 100% real

What do you think? I'm about 60/40 thinking its rubbish/real. I'll be 100% if he gets me to give him £5000/hypnotises me or something else

I think he's a tit for loosing £5K on roulette.
However my psychology lecturers hate him, and hate that now everybody thinks that all psychologists can do things like that.
What you have to remember is that its very edited, and on Tele, not live.
His live shows are good, but they are nothing like what he does on tele. Why? Because its all trickery, about how your mind assumes because it can see the beginning and end the process must be how you know it would be done, so it cannot comprehend other ways, so you think its impossible.
He's not that great, just clever with trickery.
I think there is underlying Psychology in it, for example his hypnotism and where that man stole the tele, I believe that is genuine, but I do not believe his Roulette, Lottery and other alike tricks he has played.

It's fake, he's been proven to be faking things in the past. This guy is essentially the skeptics most haunted....

Hypnosis/suggestion is most certainly possible, but you usually (maybe always) have to be a willing participant for it to work. However, if the rubbish in the first of his shows in this series (the Lottery one) is anything to go by, then most of what Derren spouts is best described as claptrap.

I think he picks on very mentally vulnerable people
Add to that unlimited attempts
and good editing of the ones he gets to work

= Profit!

This is strictly for the suggestive bits he does, none of this lottery malarky
