Operation Flashpoint 2-Dragon Rising.

Played it last night i thought it wernt bad at all, dint really get what was going on at first as i dont think they do the best job of explaning it. It does however make a nice change from the frag fest like COD. There are a lot of commands to remember which can be a bit annoying and a LOT of running to do.

I don't know how people can complete the SP game in 5 hours,. I've spent over an hour on the first mission planning attacks, setting up squad for an attack. I haven't even finished the first mission yet! (However I am doing all the objectives including secondary)

Well I am getting my copy tomorrow (the actual release day) and I am still looking forward to it. Even if it comes close to Ghost Recon 1 days with an ease of use that is even remotely easier to understand than ArmA2 then I think I will like it.

I find I am a lot more forgiving of a games foibles than most, so I think I will be able to see beyond some of the issues mentioned so far in this thread.

However I am looking to play day one coop with my mate, so I am worried about the performance there - time will tell I guess.

I only live about a 30 min drive from the Codies office in Leamington, so I may drive there and demand an explanation if it turns out to be tosh. In fact my neighbour told me his mate has been working on the game for the past two years. May be I will get my neighbour to invite him over and I will conduct an inquisition on the driveway!

Because the lucky few including myself have got it before its official UK release date.

That's what I'm telling you, there's quite a few 'lucky' people here who aren't just copying posts but have had hands on experience and don't like what they see. Accusing them of NOT having played if they experience disappointment is tad fanboi'ish. Just state why you like it / point out facts you feel are wrong rather than relying on the 'love it or it isn't real' defence.

Funny how you responded to that, Wont be playing MP till I've completed the SP I'm affraid, just the way I like to play new games.

That's fair enough if you like SP, but a lot of people have cancelled because of the MP issues and the reports that it runs poorly. These aren't unfounded accusations, but from the codemasters forums and from people on here that have reported back.

I for one am sending it back unopened as I want to play MP mainly and unlike console games you can't send it back if it doesn't work or is utter crap. If PC gamers were allowed to send games back the same as console players could I'd be happy to try the game. But given that there is no demo and if I open the package I could be stuck with a game I can't play online, I'd rather wait and see if a demo comes out or if dedicated servers become a reality.

It's not jumping on a bandwagon, it's just the reality of modern PC gaming. Companies are allowed to produce games that don't work properly, but once you've found that out it's too late to take back as most PC shops don't offer refunds on opened software. I for one don't want to be stuck with £18 worth of paperweight as I have other things I'd like to spend my money on thanks.

If the demo proves good then I'll have no issue with re-ordering it at that point in time.

I wouldn't hold your breath for dedi servers.

Since there's no serial key, cheat protection or SADS it kind of suggests CM never wanted to support the PC MP gamers.

It's a console, co-op and SP game. Nothing more.

Hmmmm, only played 5 or so mins, the "tutorial" it gives is pathetic, do this do that without actually showing you buttons to press! Guess this next bit could be a tiny bit spoilerish so dont read this little bit... ...................I blew up the radar thingy and was a good distance away from it and the explsion killed me, which just bugged the hell out of me and i quit the game

Has anyone tried it over a virtual lan (hamachi), to see if it is any better?

Will be happy to try this tomorrow night with people who have experience of doing this can contribute.

edit - or would this be pretty much the same thing as what they are currently enabling the MP through anyway and as such a waste of time?

So you really gave it a good shot in that 5 minutes then???

I mean the following in the nicest possible way, but, surely for only £17 it is worth it for the SP alone? With the addition of the mission editor, surely this is worth 17 of your shiney pounds? A lot of new games are considerably more expensive than that. I think you are at least getting a fair bit of value for money, despite the obvious MP failings.
