but on the back of the box it says quote:

"Dedicated host server recommended for optimum performance"

Surely this is extremely misleading as this feature is absent from the game?

All I can say is that the SP isn't the best but it isn't the worst either, however my experience thus far with MP has been the worst I think I've ever experienced!

I haven't played this much but have done the first 3 missions of SP. Tried the MP but it was wase of time.

This game will be dead soon no doubt.

Unfortunately I think you are right, without any dedicated server support the future for this game is limited which is a shame as I believe with some fixes and good MP support the game would have had allot of potential.

I have completed nearly all of the campaign apart from the last one. always end up dying near the Shilkas and thus fail the mission.

Also my javelin always lands about 20 metres behind its target! Despite being locked on and you can only fire when locked on. it nearly always misses! But then on other missions, it hits first time.

Cracking game though. The monastery one was terrific.

The javelin missing is a bug I think.

Check the web but I think it has something to do with how far away you are....?

ye its a brill game. some people just expect to much. wait for patches + DLC and then you'll see.

while the sp is ok a fair few bought for the mp. how can mp work with no dedi in development and even if there was the fact there is no cd key/unique id and the copied version works how the hell can any form of anti cheat be developed?

oh well just ordered bf2 complete series (lost my original or its in the attic and cba looking lol), this might be a bit old but is still quite popular, works online (64 player not 32 p2p) and for 7.99 a bargain

lesson learned and will prob never pre order again before playing a demo!!!

clearly everyone is forgetting how crappy the original was at times, the animation was shocking to say the least, driving/piloting vehicles was difficult at the best of times, the AI was simply ridiculous, unbelievably and unrealistically accurate, and unfortunately the commander always had the most irritating generic american accent, still doesn't stop it being one hell of a game that was way before its time and offered some of the most gritty and damned right difficult gameplay around. i agree with the person saying people expect too much from games, no game is perfect. definately gonna have to give it a try

I just got the original game of the year version with the Red Hammer add ons etc. just to see why it's rated so high.
I only played for a couple of minutes but couldn't cope with the dire graphics,lol
In it's day it was par for the course but I have uninstalled it already.

Another old game I got at the same time 'Soldier of fortune 2' was much better
& I played it all the way through

anyone know how to despawn props ? Ive been trying but the same method used for soldiers/vehicles doesnt seem to work for props

You cannot compare the 2 they are not in any way similar games.

opf2 has great potential, just needs a patch and a few fixes. its a real good game on MP imo.

I like it, Not bothered about playing it online. The graphics could be better but that doesn't really bother me either.

Odd question this, and perhaps one more for the mappers - are there any tractors in this one? This is a key deal-breaking factor for one of my friends.

Yea, I'd seen a preview in some magazine months ago and the graphics looked amazing, watched some videos like that and was well excited for it... Now its just rather dull, the graphics have been really dumbed down and its really quite annoying!

The graphics haven't been dumbed down of course, they were never that good. They'll just claim it was a proof of concept or something. Or worse, some raving fanboy will do it for them :rolleyes:
