is there a way to tell trim is running
?

I don't think you can tell if it is actually running, only that Windows 7 is configured so that it should run. At the command prompt type:

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

For TRIM to actually happen you need to ensure it is also supported by both your drive (the new firmware) and your storage controller driver. At the moment only the standard Microsoft driver is confirmed to pass TRIM from the O/S to the drive. There are rumours that future Intel drivers will support TRIM, but even the recently leaked Rapid Storage release does not support TRIM.

Could someone please tell me how do I figure out which version
of the firmware my 64Gb is currently running?. I haven't touched
my 64Gb crucial ssd's since I bought them..

ok this error popped up while i was updating from 1571

ERROR FIRMWARE Download Fail!

What the hell does that mean, i selected my drive 1, then presses 1, then got this message,

i rebooted the firmware my drive is seen as 1819. but what did that fail error indicate?

my drive boots into windows also, but having the error message in the update process has scared me

is my drive dead/flashed wrong?

I haven't installed anything on my disk yet, am waiting for retail win7 do i still have to use the method above?

Still a pain though, was about to buy one in prep for Windows 7 :(

Just have to be a new GPU instead!

Indeed, but higher prices on the memory no doubt play a part as well. I would do the same, if they sell out all of these that they get in anyway, as it seems they do, why not charge as much as they can for it?

how do we tell what firmware version came with the drive ?

Either use CrystalDiskMark or go to the drive's Properties:

Windows 7 installed in under 6 minutes (using a USB drive but still) :) A total of 9 minutes including the following reboots, set up stage (name, CD key, network, etc) and performance evaluation.

how did you get win7 to install from usb?

9 minutes to install windows 7 - LOL - what kind of DVD drive you got? It takes about 10 to copy and uncompress files of the dvd rom

Probably used a USB stick and not a DVD.

Bah I was tempted to buy one for Windows 7 but not after the price hike. Will wait till they come down... again... lol

i dont get it...
do i just put the .exe files from the iso in a usb stick and it will autorun?

OK so I extracted the 128.exe file using Nero and then created a bootable CDRW. I put it in the Win 7 Enterprise trial test machine and it tried to boot from the CD but then said it could't run DOS.

I then tried it in my "old" XP machine and it ran and booted from the CD and loaded CD drivers etc. It didn't find the firmware update. I found it manually and typed the full name of the 128.exe file and it RAN! It says no SSD found as I use normal HDD on this PC - but it looks OK in principle.

However this PC has a SATA interface and not a SATA2 interface - will it update using this interface? this?
