*** Crucial M225 SSD's Available From £102.99 inc VAT ***

thanks, still not managed to update the FW though, guess im just a noob at stuff like this

so i booted up from the USB stick and goto into dos, its just flashing on

C:\

i guess i have to enter my usb device name or soem thing then press enter ? i entered USB DISK as thats its name in windows but nothing happened, spose i'll have to wait till a idiots guide gets posted :D

No, just enter the name of the firmware, which is CT64M.exe, CT128M.exe or CT256M.exe dependent on which capacity drive you have, at the prompt and press <Enter> to run it. You should put the firmware on to the USB disk before rebooting into DOS.

You are flashing from 1571 btw? If you're on 1711 you have to downgrade to 1571 first.

What he said ^^

ah ok i thought you had to access the usb stick first, will try now

thanks for the info :)

oh yeah im on 1571 atm

EDIT: wow thats quick once you know what to do , thanks again chaps

so do i have to manually enable TRIM now ive updated the FW , im using win 7

Absolute PITA, especially with RAID...and why are they distributing the updates as ISOs - could have at least made them bootable and both work from DOS?

When I saw the ISO, for one fleeting second I dared to hope it was a bootable image. That would have been too easy.

Nope, should be on by default. Although you can check. Copy this into a command box

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

If it returns a 0, means TRIM is on.

brilliant thanks ive checked that and confirmed TRIM is on, is that it now i dont have to check anything else ? or tweek anything for optimal performance ?

Nope you're good to go. The remaining item in the TRIM armory is now the drivers for your controller (though if you run Win7 and have an Intel ICHxR controller with the default drivers they should support TRIM).

I'd run the wiper tool once just to clean up any deleted files that were done before the TRIM firmware update, then TRIM should take care of any new deleted files from now on.

where will find the wiper tool ? ive noticed something is not quite right because my crystal disk score is a lot lower :(

My CrystalDisk score is now much lower on my 256GB Crucial since the 1819 firmware. I'm getting a max write of 90mb, and that's in both CrystalDisk and AS SSD benchmark, which is half what it used to be. How do I restore to the correct write speed?

Thanks.

Thanks, got it now. How does this tool work? I've tried running it in Windows and it just says there are no drives that the tool can be run on. Do I need to boot into a dos environment to run this?

What drivers are you using? You need to use the built in Windows 7 driver for the disk controller. Also I'm guessing it's a single disk? Since Wiper doesn't work for RAID.

Single disk. I've just installed the latest Intel drivers, but it didn't work before that either, where it was just Windows drivers. I'm using Windows 7.

Multiple people in this thread have said they have used Wiper on their crucial drives so I'm not sure why you're having problems :/

Neither am I but certainly before and after the Intel driver installation, the wiper tool did not work.

Is there any other way of 'resetting' the drive to restore the performance? A full format before installing Windows? It just bugs me that it's not performing as it should!
