What car would you have for 50k ? and would you buy one you couldnt afford to run ?

used V8 Vantage or used Nissan GT-R or a sensible road car (BMW 330i cab maybe) and a track car (Atom / '7' or an exige maybe)

I'd love a Gallardo, but imagine one for this price would be a bit ropey, so it'd be a toss up between a 911 GT3 and a Corvette Z06, and for some reason I think I'd plump for the yank brute!

E92 M3
Slightly used GTR
Atom (supercharged)
TTRS
R8 (if prepared to tolerate a wait of a good few months)

Pretty much the only ones in the frame.

Just had a thought.

By the time I'd be a position to do this it'd probably be within the price to get something like a 330/335d for during the week and Atom for the weekend/being mental. Now that does sound appealing :D

I'd probably buy an 04/05 Bentley CGT in the view to running it long term. I wouldnt want anything too sporty as a long term daily prospect and wouldnt want something so valuble as a rarely used secondary car. These are about the best cars in the business as dailys so theres the choice.

I raise you a Z06, THEN the rest on running it :P :D

edit - what happened to all the £30k Z06's that were on there a few months ago! :0

No idea, but I haven't looked at vettes until recently.....serious contender for a next car (c6) :D

I would get a Yaris (Joking). No I would really get an Evo 10 so that I could mod it up a little and then use the rest of the money to run it.

really ?

everything i've ever read about them says they're crude, horrible to drive and almost agricultural.

Big V10, lots of noise, lots of prescence

not a lot else.

Nope not really, as most of these answers are not thought out at all and as such are mostly rubbish.

I wouldn't like to buy a car I couldn't comfortably afford to run. If I had £50k that must be spent on a car / running costs, I'd probably go for a TVR and keep something more mundane for commuting etc

I have to say though, it's a position I've never been in, and might prefer a different car in reality.
