Rate the area where you live.

Lets all be jealous of Tres :(

:p

bwahaha, please do.

I am damn lucky actually. the last place I lived in was Bridgwater, Somerset.
That gets a 0/10 - it was even in some major newspaper as the worst place in the UK to live!!!! Crime, chavs, incest capital of the UK at one point, charity shops everywhere, a muddy river flowing through it, most residents are retarted. Literally! The reason I left Bridgwater to come here was some personal issues that would probably have killed me by now - and instead of staying here for 4 months as planned, it's been 6 years

Tresco, Isles of Scilly 9.5/10

Stunning island
White sand beaches, most of which see a handful of people a day in the summer, none in the winter
Clear water
No pollution
No crime
No cars
No traffic
Weather generally better than the mainland, and rarely a frost (once every few years)
Method of transport is golf buggies or speed boats.
Activities including shooting, boating, watersports, fishing
Fantastic food & drink
Healthiest place in the country to live

Negatives:

Only 1 pub (although 8 more on 4 islands)
No KFC/fast food!
No shops
What internet sources do you have?

And no fast food! OMG. What do you eat after you get trashed at the pub?

(What do you do if you get barred from said pub!?!?)

(is that what you mean by internet sources??)

If people fly to the mainland and bring back a KFC, they're usually worshipped for a few days.

And luckily doesn't happen very often.
You throw one punch, you're removed and barred from the island - usually happens with some drunk seasonal staff each season

So tres, if we're reaallllllly nice to you, what are the chances of some free holiday accommodation? I've always wanted to visit the Scillies :p

It's all private land, staff aren't classed as legal tenants with usual tenant rights, it's in their contracts that anything like that is gross misconduct and you're off the island same day!

A forum i've been on for years, a group of them came out to see me! Now they come every year and some great friends.

I've signed up on Couchsurfing, and have had quite a few people stay. Sometimes it's really hard to do, but others I have plenty of cottages/staff units to use

Now where's my best friend during this.......

Sheffield 8/10
Few cars
Quiet
No crime
Good local things such as pubs
Countryside

Only problem is a new pub opened that's attracting a lot of bad crowds from surrounding areas and it's going downhill very quickly :(

Todmorden. Small old fashioned village on the border of East Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

Quite popular amongst hippies and alternative types, close to Hebden bridge which is the lesbian capital of the NW apparently.

I like it, nice and quiet and is in a deep vally so you get amazing views of vertical rocks everywhere you look with clouds at the top, plenty of old buildings and not too scruffy but not stupidly expensive erither. (slightly more than surrounding areas)

No crime or anything, few chavs but never seen any trouble. also no speed cameras around here at all.

It is miles away from the nearest motorway but has a train station going to manchester/leeds.

Central Reading.

30mins to Paddilington, right on the river hour to the south coast, relatively affluent (have's\have nots).

Many dodgy areas & awful traffic problems.

6.5/10

9/10 (I'll keep 1 back)

1000s of pubs
Loads of clubs
Live entertainment
Premier footie
Loads of shops
Nice people
Virtually zero trouble where I live

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else to be honest

Poor economy & Liverpool 1 is a cultural wasteland!

Cultural Wasteland, yes it's a shopping centre, but everywhere else round there isn't. In terms of economy, compared to the south east the wealth of the region as a whole is relatively low, but having worked for a multimedia firm here, business is without a doubt growing. Living in Reading, you'd know a lot about cultural wastelands though I guess. ;)

The average house price in Hightown/Formby is also well over the National average - http://www.upmystreet.com/local/neighbours-in-l38.html

Beaconsfield 8/10

Nice area
No real crime or chavs
good pubs
close to railway
close to other big cities
rural in some places

but its expensive

Witney, Oxfordshire. 8/10 Nice town with little crime and close to Oxford and surrounding beautiful villages. Only downside is there is very little to do.

8/10 (-1 point for no shops, -1 point for the stupid housing developments they have built around my parents house)

A small village in Essex

I live in such a nice area. No kids, no chavs, hardly any noise. In the summer it is amazing - within about 300 meters of my parents house, it is just corn fields as far as the eye can see. I go running through these fields in the evenings and i won't see another person/hear anything (not even traffic) for hours. It's so peaceful and i always think people who have lived in cities (or even small towns) will never get to experience the awesomeness of just being utterly alone for a while /gay

South London (That's right... that's as much as I'm giving away... oh the shame...)

3/10

Full of moody, depressed, impolite people :(
I don't like it - am going to immigrate when I'm a little older...
One positive thing... I live a mere 5 minute drive from work :p
