Sky TV on Xbox

They are missing a trick, they could offer the sports pack for £20 and I tell you a lot of non sky customers would go for it to watch the premiership. Price is just too high for something you don't really seeing being a good buy for £34, same with the GOD £19.99 for a game you can get for half the price or less.

Not really, because think of the amount of people who are paying £34 a month who would then drop to just the sports pack through xbox for £20 a month. I'd be pretty sure they've already run the numbers and would do it if it would make more revenue than it lost.

I'd be interested in trying this when I get my own place. I noticed they took it down due to problems which I was slightly disappointed by, as I was interested in giving this a go today. But if it's not 100% right then there is no point in keeping it up and having the xbox community complain about it.

I'd hazard a guess at it costing them more to provide this service than the classic satellite infrastructure.

Remember that it's costing them bandwidth as well as you, along with the costs of the servers and such like...with satellite it costs the same regardless of whether 1 person or 60million people are watching it.

I still agree though, it shouldn't cost even close to the amount of their full satellite based service considering the reduced quality, fewer channels and its seeming inability to provide a 100% stable service at peak times.

It isn't very expensive to put a few servers in a data centre and get some fat pipes, it is getting it from the "internet" to peoples houses that costs much more.

still it is all good, still a leap forward but I wont be buying it.

Got the missus to word up her Grandad about this. He has just got the Sports channels, which is what I want. Said I will pay the SkyPlayer multiroom subscription and he OK'd it. Wouldn't have bothered if I would have had to have paid a full subscription price, not worth it.

It doesn't appeal to me. I've already got 100 channels on Freeview with nothing on to flick through. I don't want to pay for 899 more. LOL.
