Rediscovering my love for Quake 2

I still get the urge to play q2 online. I stopped playing it about 3 years ago but played it religiously until then.
I don't expect there's much of a community left for it now.
I think Fuster's is still running though - I was in their clan for a good while (!EAT!).

Ok its timedemo 1 then type map demo1.dm2
Timerefresh only tests a part of the map where ur standing

Still love quake2 in my heart played in the ukccl Division 1 back in the day for clan CS still got loads of screens from those days a shame i lost most of my demo because of a HD failure

Loved Q2, played a lot of CTF in savage league. Also liked Arena but most of the other mods were not my cup of tea, beside Action Quake maybe

One of the first games I bought. Proper loved it.

Played it on my 133mhz Pentium, 32Mb Ram and 1.2G Hd.... Think it took half the drive with the full install.

I could only have that and pretty much Office on the computer :)

Beserkers scared the hell out of me even when I had the best guns.

TRESPASSER !!!!!1

Goosebumps, Screams, runs, shoots, AAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Q2 has one of the best soundtracks of any game imo... perfectly sets the atmosphere

Track 7 is the best IMO. I used to listen to it on repeat while playing Quake [1] deathmatch against bots. Pretty sad that I can still remember the track number despite not having listened to it in over 5 years, heh.

You just can't beat the good ole double barrel shotgun.

Heh, indeed, something great to fall back on in the right hands, a dm7 domination device.

Better still when you were in spectator mode in chase cam behind a grunt packing one clearing up.

As said though, q2 was everything and all things, the total skilled double/strafe jumping to reach areas for weapons/armour, from timing routes, to knowing what weapon to use and when... and that was just in your average ffa dm game, in the 4v4 world the game shone like no other has since.

Required far far more than just twitch and aim, the game was a master class in exelence.... It's no suprise that the best of best that dominated the cs scene for years hailed from q2... i used to battle those guys on a nightly basis on the barrys duel servers.

Big up to the old minos players:)

Hehe, I remember that name! I had numerous names but the last one I think was X-Dream. I used to play on Fusters DM and got quite into Freezetag.

Quake 2 for me was awesome. The multiplayer was so versatile with all the double jumps and different ways to navigate the maps. Oh and of course, q2dm1 :)

q2dm1 - The Edge

There was also a mod i loved, i cant remember whether it was Q1 or Q2 but it had laughing grenades in it ....used to play that online with a 33.6 modem i think lol
