Natural Selection 2

UWE have said that with the pre-order money they have been able to hire new people and introduce new assests like the Heavy/Exo suit for marines which originally was going to be left out of the game.

Anyone that has pre-purchased this should now have access to the pre-alpha. Woo. I'm in work but has anyone checked it out?

(before anyone gets too excited, it's not the actual game, just the level editor and some content)

Don't know if it'll be worth it or not, but as of the time of posting this, there's an offer that expires in just under 2 days, direct from the devs, that gives you Natural Selection 2 and Overgrowth for $40.

Played a bit of the original mod and whilst it wasn't the first RTS/Coop-FPS hybrid (I think that award went to Savage) it took a more claustrophobic, horror, sci-fi type slant which was great. The only issue is I remember is that game tended to be very one sided when the humans were led by an experienced/good commander whereas the Khaara were more biased toward individual skill than co-operative skill.

Apparently this is a will be split into fairly broadly into between being a new game and a natural successor of the original mod so interested to hear more on this.

I was always more of a Savage player but I'm pretty sure the original NS was before Savage? I could be wrong, though :)

NS was released October 2002, whilst Savage was a 2003 release (Autumn IIRC)
