lol

I wonder what the "Internet" reaction would be to that?

Gabe Newell being set on fire?

My point is, only a VERY small percentage of the PC community give a stuff about the COD series yet look at all the fuss which has come of it.

Imagine if it was a game with a larger following?

Scary.

counter strike is hardly huge anymore tho is it?
Source and 1.6 together still come up short compared to cod4
on clanbase.

It would be bad but no worse the cod.

main difference is the COd market is the casual gamer the CS/CSS market is the more competitive gamer.

So a much higher percentage of the target audience would react badly to the news.

Not sure if loads of people have left counter strike but competitivity cod4 is bigger on clanbase anyway. Ive got nothing against counter strike but i think the general i think the complaints would be about the same.

Something like this might be enough to make people boycott Valve altogether, I mean look what nearly happened to them for releasing a sequel to a popular game.

I thought the bloke who came up with Counterstrike is working on a spiritual successor independently of Valve, and that Valve don't have any plans for a third?

Not sure about this but I know the Promod guys are still having their go at recreating the beautiful game (lol) after a severely underwhelming open beta many moons ago.

in his own words he said he's making it into the game he wanted cs to be and that the community resisted, so i doubt it will be as popular.

I dont think it will be as popular because it looks trash.

No wonder the community resisted if that is what he wanted to turn it into.

I keep reading snippits that he wasnt THE guy who made the game, just a skinner? Any truth to this?
