Im loving the fact that despite owning physical copies of the game, i cant install it because steam wants to download and is too busy. Lovely.

Now i remember why i never use steam. Oh well back to wow i guess, so much for game of the year, maybe the worst game of the year.

lol. The servers are probably getting it both ways right now. I have had this happen to a lot with new games on steam.

Maybe, but why should i download the game when i have physical copies in my dvd drive. I dont care if steam is busy, all the files are on the disk.

I dont want to have to wait several days to be able to install the game.

Some people say patch days for warcraft are bad - if you ask me this is even worse than release day of a wow expansion and thats saying something.

So wait a minute, this game I just bought on DVD won't actually let me install from DVD, it has to download all of the DVD content from a VERY slow Steam account first?

Come on you chaps, you're the clever ones, how the sodding hell do I get around this crap!

Wait, download? You mean you can't even install the game content from the disc? I'm I reading this right?

If so, get a crack. What a joke. :o

It seems to be a bloody awful mess of an install. For some reason after I changed my server to Iceland/Greenland it seems to be installing off the DVD but a mate who is doing the exact same thing is STILL seeing his system try and install it via Steam, as I was seeing. I have the package, the 2 DVD's as does he from Tesco yet STILL it wants to download the content. Someone has fubar'd this big time!

Correct me if I am wrong but...

I think that were all focusing on pings in multiplayer a little to much. Low pings are needed for smooth gameplay but when pings are high the software uses it's best guess to judge where players are and what should be happening. When the game eventually catchs up it corrects all the locations and actions that are taking place. This is where you would see a player disappear from one location and jump to another.

Some games have better guessing software than others and if the 100 pings for mw2 are to be believed then I am going to say the IW.net might have some really good software behind it.

I was having the same problem with trying to install from DVD just now. "Servers too busy to handle the request"

I tried disconnecting from the internet, closing steam, reinserting DVD 1. None of which prevented the install trying to download the game via Steam.

Anyways, I've kept trying and eventually it's decided to install from DVD, and I can quite confidently say that I did nothing differently this time round. So I guess you just have to keep on trying and hope the lovely servers over at steam can find the time to handle your request!!

My guess is that Steam authorises your DVD data before letting your pc install the game.

Bizarre..... Good luck!

What a joke to install, unplugged the internet, and let it run then re-plugged it, installing from Disc. It is still painfully slow. JOKE!!!!!

Ditto, mine all of a sudden decided it was going to use the nice shiny DVD in the drive rather than sucking it down a bloody wire!
