Stuff you know that others wouldn't know because of your job.

the 3 most senior members of staff at my old school, don't actually teach any subjects, and between them they probably earn £250,000

I've learnt a lot about the gas industry, emergency, replacement work... interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes ;).

Tesco will accept money off vouchers from any other supermarket as long as they're "conditional spend" vouchers.

(Conditional spend vouchers = £5 off when you spend £50 on groceries. NOT product specific vouchers like 10p off Kelloggs Corn Flakes.)

The person at the till may look at you funny, but tell them to scan the voucher regardless. 90% of the time it will work, and the other 10%, tell them to get their line manager who will (hopefully) know the drill.

Hah, I knew that!
Im pretty sure the CO-OP and other large supermarkets will accept other store's discount vouchers too.

I know how slow Sage Line50 V12 runs when the 'powers that be' install Symantec Endpoint Security onto every machine into the office, bearing in mind that Sage uses MSDOS style .DTA files (hundreds of them) to store thousands of products, customers and invoices.
Not sure why they don't use a database tbh.

Thata 76.1mm by 3.2mm and a 88.9mm by 3.2mmm steel posts are deemed passively safe if you hit them in your car.

Most white lines on the road contain tiny glass beads.

There was an article in the Grocer not long ago saying that manufacturers were ****ed at Tesco for having a policy of allowing ANY vouchers through, then billing them for it even if the product hadn't been put through.

Also said they'd stopped doing that after someone mentioned said practice on TV ;)

Anyway, no suspect voucher deals allowed round our supermarket. You'll just get a funny look if you hand over Tesco or similar vouchers with a rivals name on it :p

The difference between 4-methylmethcathinone and 4-methoxymethylamphetamine. Without looking it up on the interweb.

M
Both are dirty "MDMA replacements", the first being legal, both being probably more dangerous than MDMA itself.

I know that the NHS wastes a ridiculous amount of money by subcontracting things.

Those are product specific vouchers. ;) And yeah, we stopped doing that a wee while ago.

That in 1983 the average passenger car sold in the UK had 80 hp, today it has 120hp, and that that is an almost linear trend.

All thanks to 5000 Terabytes of automotivey data :D
