Women's driving position

Maybe they have "modern", 21st century cars with PAS

Just a thought . .

And on what exactly do you base this remarkable insight into the minds of these "people (mostly women)"

Some of you kids really should get out more; girls really aren't that scary you know ;)

stockhausen on hand once again to pointlessly challenge accepted statements. What would we do without you.

stockhausen, doesn't it get really boring playing Devil's Advocate all the time?

Anyone who sits as close to the wheel as the muppet in the picture above is a danger to other road users. In that position it's almost impossible to see your rear view mirror without turning your head 90 degrees away from the direction you are travelling in. As for the door mirrors, forget it they'll be impossible to use. Anyone who has that lack of general awareness of things around them is a total danger to everyone else on the road.

My driving position is best, seat all the way back and down, back leaning a little, steering wheel all the way up. You get a little bend in your arms in the steering, full control of it an no strain. Plenty of leg room, but still able to operate the pedals effectively.
One downside is no one can get in behind you.
Probably won't work unless you're pretty tall like me as well.

Don't understand why you'd want to get close to the wheel and be all hunched up.

You should see Portuguese drivers. ;)

By the way what is a man’s typical driving position. :p

Bare-chested, in a truck with flames and naked women painted on the side, drinking beer with one hand, other hand on the top of the wheel, slouching a bit, Judas Priest or some such playing. Oh and the road should probably be on fire too, for maximum effect. :p

whilst it is daft, I laugh more at ******/chavs that sit very off centre in their seat, they're either pressed up against the window, or look like they're sitting ON the handbrake, why!?

I don't care what position they drive in I just Love the effect a seatbelt has on there Norks.

Amen:p

Luckily my gf doesnt sit like that but then shes about 5'8 tall and has pretty long legs and arms...plus she drives like an utter loon which i absolutely love:D.

But yep ive always noticed these women sat up close to the steering wheels...i put it down to the fact that they are short in height so cant get to the pedals and wheel unless they are real close to the wheel.

ORLY? So what if the PAS fails? How do they maintain adequate movement of the wheel without excessive shuffling even with PAS?

Seriously I really wonder about your experiences of driving, every post you make you seem more and more clueless about all things motors.

Maybe you know more about girls then? I hope so.

I don't buy the whole height thing.

You'd have to have arms 6 inches long to assume the correct driving position with the seat that far forward :p

The height excuse is a complete crock. I'm 5ft 4 and have no issues sitting well back from the steering wheel.
Browsing though a m8's Facebook pics and found this -_-
Can't say I've ever noticed women who drive in that position, but then I don't spend that much time looking at women drivers. It's weird though, it looks incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. Maybe they feel safer in enclosed spaces.... do they nestle themselves in cardboard boxes like cats when they are at home? Very odd.

this youtube vid explains what i want to do to thease woman drivers when i get stuck behind one doing 20mph on a clear road with no obsticles and face pressed close to the screen as if its foggy outside and pressing your face closer is supposed make you see further

awaiting comments :D

haha love the old airplane movies.

I detest this with a passion. I can't believe the number of instructors I've spotted allowing it, generally the AA or some local independent in a Mini.

My GFs sister does it too. It's a spacial awareness thing, apparently! She feels far more in control. :\

Yes, I'll never quite get it either...

someone on the motorway last night was driving with their sidelights on.
guess the woman's driving position...

no amount of flashing, hooting, etc by a plethora of drivers made her take any notice.

it then started chucking it down and visibility was very low. someone almost crashed into her as they just couldn't see the candles :/

As a matter of interest, how long did you spend driving alongside this woman as a "plethora of drivers" tried to alert her to driving with just her sidelights on?

Did it not occur to you that you might have been adding to the problem?

i didn't drive alongside her at all.
obviously it was only after i overtook her that i noticed she didn't have her dipped beam on.
there's not much you can do to alert drivers they haven't got their lights on once you're past them.
i flashed my rear fogs a few times but tbh it's not really my job to tell her what to do.

the people flashing at her were the ones that she overtook as they didn't even see her

but even so, when people start flashing at you, you tend to wonder what you're doing wrong.
i've driven around town at night without lights in certain cars as the dashboards light up regardless.
it took a few cars before i figured out what was wrong :o

what? Do people often drive backwards on the motorway where you come from?
