**The Official - Will the 5970 fit in my case? Thread**

I purchased a Cooler Master HAF 922 and wonder if it will fit a HD5970.
If it fits in HAF 932 then wouldn't it fit in HAF 922 since the their dimensions with the exception of height seem to be quite similar in depth. ?
HAF 932 Dimensions: (W) 243 x (H) 560 x (D) 564 mm
HAF 922 Dimensions: (W) 253 x (H) 502 x (D) 563 mm

It will fit in the HAF 932.

A chap on overclock.net measured the internals of the HAF932 and it fits a 14" card.

He is running a 5970 in his HAF 932 at the moment.

One thing to note, is that if a case fits an EATX motherboard, it should in theory be okay for a 5970 card. Since an EATX motherboard is 13" wide IIRC...

Well it's not the HAF 932 I purchased but the HAF 922 :) I know it fits in HAF 932, but since HAF 922 is just as long (1mm shorter), I assume it should fit.

Im guessing guys if you already have 2x5870s like i do i would be better off keeping them right instead of getting 1 of these ? also mine should be faster right lol

If you put a watercooled overclocked 5970 up against say 2 watercooled overclocked 5870's which would win?

Obviously the cost of 2 watercooled 5870's is gonna be almost £800 so it definitely is not gonna be cheaper.

How wide is the card?

I haven't measured my case yet but I suspect the card would go 'inside' the HDD cage...

So, is this card wider than a hard drive?

In the hands of a pro this would be a wicked sick showdown. If you use the Asus BIOS on the 5870s I would think them for the win... now somebody take that as a challenge! :D

Was about 3mm too long on my antec 900, so had to remove the drivebay. Not a issue just gave the card direct access to the front fan blowing into it The drives mount fine without the drive bay anyway.

Hi abjectblitz,

Any chance you can take a picture of the 5970 in your Antec 900 and post in into this thread?

I've got a 900 and thought I'd have to get a new case.

Also have you got the 5970 in middle of your M/B? I've currently got to mount my 4870X2 towards the bottom, close to the power supply as I've a problem with one of me PCI express slots.

Also have temperatures been an issue?

Thanks

Taff

Can someone please tell me if it fits my case - see it here - http://www.aerocool.us/case/JetMaster/JetMaster-spec.htm

My own photos showing inch-tape measures against case are here -

My only worry is that to get a 5970 to fit it'd have to go half-way into the HDD cage.
Is this possible?
Thanks guys! :)

Taff,

I'll take a photo next time I'm in there, but the card will easily fit if you take one drive bay out. With the drive bay in it is very close a few mm's you could probably cut or bend the drivebay if you want to retain it.

I have it in the middle yeah, no problem. I also stuck my 8800U as a physx card in the 2nd slot. Had to move some SATA cables to different slots as the 8800's was crushing the cables in the slots.

Case is completely packed now, but cooling is excellent as ever. Running the 5970 at 950/5000 with fair bit voltage without crashing in furmark after 30 min. :D
