Health & Safety hits Christmas Tree

To be fair to them they at least have an excuse, high winds + massive tree weighing a hell of a lot and balanced on a very small base is not really a great mix and I imagine having robes etc to make it anywhere near stable probably ruin the look to.

No they don't. Church near me always has a real tree.
Steel tube buried in concrete, tree goes in hole, bolted in.
End of season they pop a flower pot on it, job done.

One year the local yobs broke the decorations, apparently someone then punched a few faces in, no problems since :)

Council officials are just retarded jobsworths, it's not like Christmas doesn't happen every year.
If a church council can solve such a "complicated" problem then a council nub on £75K should be able to

Reading further down the article it says they tried this approach because people didn't like the various guy ropes etc needed to stop it blowing over.

But hey, let's get sensationalist!

Still bonkers though.

The council in my town (7,000 population basically a large village) has still put up a proper christmas tree in the middle of the main roundabout and hasn't changed anything, despite someone deciding to crash into it last year.

its a tree with spikes on, you dont see the council removing every hedgerow with thorns on as well do you? Heath and safety officers are possibly the biggest bunch of pricks I have ever encountered in my life, why dont we get rid of them too!
