Car Insurance

There's very little point suggesting companies like More than, elephant, swiftcover et al in these threads - they're all on comparison sites.

Comparison sites are a bit crap, mostly because a lot of companies arent in included, but if one of the companies who participate in them was going to give a decent quote the OP would have found it by now

Hardly, thats what I paid this year and I found that through a comparison site.....if you can find it cheaper then be my guest :p

It is, but the owner who bought his car second hand can't reasonably be expected to know what equipment his car had fitted as optional extras can he?

I'd agree and it's very unlikely an insurance company would refuse a claim if factory fitted options weren't declared. However they'd be well within their rights to only pay out to repair to the standard base spec.

You couldn't be more wrong mate.
Swiftcover were circa £500 cheaper than my previous insurer, and over £200 cheaper than anyone else I could find.....including when using the comparison sites.

I'm with swiftcover - found them by a comparison site - obviously I got a better price talking to them directly. But the point is, if any of the mainstream companies were going to give a decent price, he'd have found them already surely. Even if there is a few quid to be saved by a bit more legwork

That was my point

Everyone uses the comparison sites if More Than were going to give a good price, he'd have already found it

recently the mods added a new thing to the forum, think its called 'search'. Guess it must be rubbish though if you needed to start a new thread ;)

Hilarious :)

I use the search function, however I figured not many people come on here moaning about car insurance in this specific category...Then again I don't visit this part of the forum much

I think you're wrong on this one matey.
Insurers only want to know if the car has been modified/altered from the state it was in when it left the factory.

ie when Alloys are fitted then ;)

I used comparison sites initially, just to get a general all-rounder so to speak...Then goto the insurer directly :p

I just had issues with the fact they couldn't take my no claims discount into consideration..Ah well, their loss at the end of the day :p
