*** Official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread ***

Played a few games last night and about 75% of them had people abusing the 'infinite care package' glitch.

Constant Predator/Harrier/PaveLow/AC-130 attacks for the entire game. Was utterly ridiculous.

There were guys sat on like 40-1, while our team was constantly ground into the dirt.

Seriously needs patching out ASAP.

Haha, I had my HB sensor on earlier and saw a dot right infront of me, i was wondering where the hell he was, then I died and I couldn't see anyone. When I watched the killcam he was right in front of me clear as day, I have no idea how that happened but wtf.

Talking of killcams, how does the killcam actually work, is it replaying what your client saw, what the server saw or what the killer saw? It's a little confusing as sometimes I'll be shooting someone square in the face hearing the sounds of bullets hitting the enemy but when I watch the killcam the enemy is taking no damage whatsoever.

Also sometimes I'll be shooting an enemy coming towards me but when I watch the killcam no shots come from my gun.

Finally... I'll be running around and die hearing one gun shot then when I watch the replay I've been shot like 10 times!

Oh and I'm sick of aiming at people's heads only to die because someone shot vaguely near one of my feet.

I'd imagine its client side. I regularly dive behind a corner only to get dragged back a few feet while I die. Kill cam shows me not round the corner. Lots of interpolation, but it seems the kills are reported by the client.

Had a javelin person last night. Everyone on the connection reported them for cheating....including me.,

Damn that stats server crash it took me most of the evening to get my Level etc back where it was. Lost count of the number of nukes that happened I'm a bit suspicious that some weren't arranged since I've only encountered one before.

I thought Emergency drops where great until I tried to call one in on Scrapyard and Underpass. There just don't seem to be many enemy/team-mate, inaccessible overhang/out of bounds safe spots.

This game has degenerated to:

-Commando/Marathon/Lightwight/Tac-knife never fire gun class
-People who run around with the javelin and fire it into the ground, killing themselves and their enemy (Didn't even know you could fire that thing without locking on, but obviously you can :p)
-1887 Akimbo
-Riot Shield + Throwing Knife

:p

That javelin thing is a glitch....when you kill them from any distance you just explode. a lot of the novelty stuff is getting annoying. I mean the amount of kill streaks that get called in one after the other is joke in core. TBH I'd prefer to see all killstreaks go...yes all of them. It would make the game more of a pure FPS game....rather then......

bingo + fps game = COD

Made that riot shield class mentioned in this thread last night. Had a great time seeing people not know how to deal with someone running at them with a riot shield! Couldn't stop laughing at one point. My housemate ran in to see what was happening and loved it too. Killed enough people with the riot shield now and can't be bothered sitting there letting people shoot me for much longer for the bullets deflected and damage taken bonuses, so I'll leave it there for an occasional fun run :p

and then they had to add all that senseless crap that you can customise because everyone knows thousands of pointless little pictures that people can customise is exactly what makes a game great/sarcasm

I honestly dont understand your frustration.

i too loved COD4 modern warfare, and cant see how MW2 is vastly different. The part of your post ive quoted is a case in point.

COD4 had all the create a class options and customisation and perks etc..

MW2 plays exactly the same as MW1 for me. I see very little difference other than some new maps and stuff.

Rank isnt representative of skill though, I came late to the party but my k/d ratio has always hovered around 2. My friend has played the same time as me but its about 10 places higher in the rankings because he went for all the challenges and unlocks etc. Perhaps being a little bias, but I know who I would rather have on my team if it was between him and myself.

k/d ratios are only relevant in TDM.

On any other game modes the object of the game is not to get loads of kills.

Same goes with the knife range, they really need to sort commando out, or do away with it altogether.

They won't do anything. Infinity refused to see a problem with Martydom. They denied it was ever a problem by looking at their stats, now curiously it's not in the new game only as a death perk.

Why oh why cant they have a euro zone.......

Why couldn't they just build decent net code. They have had two years to work on it and its no better than cod 4. Seriously I want a job at infinity ward. For the last 2 years all they have added is Spec ops, which is excellent. The rest of it they knocked up in a month. Single player game they likely made in a week with pub lunches. Multiplayer maps probably took them a month. ;)

Christ they got so drunk with all that time off they decided to add a fiver to the price and get rid of PC servers when they should have been using that fiver to fund console servers.

The rest of the time they sat around playing their own game testing it instead of a beta. What a job!

;)

Yep me too, choose your perks at the start and thats your customisation.

My K/D ratio is always crap (hovers around 0.8-1 most of the time), as far to often I go out with the intention of just getting throwing knife kills for the entire match, or using SPARTAAAAAAA, or some other random build just to mix things up a bit :o

I think they should remove the kill death stat and just have a wins leaderboard for each game type. People then might just go out to win.

Then again I suppose people would still need to camp those streaks out. :(

I don't see the big problem with killstreaks. I can't say I've been killed by them more frequently than in COD4 and it's not exactly difficult to kill someone aiming their predator.

Nah no problem with killstreaks.

All you need is one or two people on your team with a Stinger and you can take out any Harrier/Apache in one shot as soon as it enters the map, which are the usual kill streaks.

Predators only really ever take out 2 people on average and are one shot deals so not a biggie.

Turrets are easily taken out.

PaveLow's while tougher can be taken out fairly easily.

Air Strikes are easily avoided.

EMP's are just an annoyance and easily overcome (especially if you don't use Red Dot/Holo anyway...)

Nukes are rare enough not to be annoying.

The only 'overpowered' ones I see are Chopper Gunner and AC-130 as it is soooo easy to just mow down the entire enemy team over and over, and they are far too hard to take out (AC-130 especially!).

I don't think three missiles is TOO much for taking one out. All it takes is two people on a team of 6 (or 9) to carry a Stinger or switch to a Stinger class to take it out. Alternatively you could make sure they don't get one in the first place :p

It seems to me that people in general are being overly critical. It seems that people are looking back on COD4 with rose-tinted spectacles already and many of their complaints don't make much sense at all (not necessarily directed at OcUK members in particular, just people in general).

No the number of missiles isn't a problem, the problem lies in being able to get into the open, wait for lock-on, and be able to fire before you are mown down/blown into tiny pieces :D

Three times... usually by the time you've managed to get 3 shots off your teams been wiped a few times and the Choppa/AC-130 has left.

Pssh, that's what Hardcore is for! :p

Mind you, I mainly use the FAL as my rifle and Stopping Power is useless on it anyway.

Ha, on Hardcore I use Cold Blooded + Ninja, but on Normal TDM I can't live without Stopping Power.
