I'd hope to see a price slash on the LGA775 dual cores soon, at present I feel they are overpriced . . .
IMHO No LGA775 chip (bar maybe extreme editions) are worth over £100 . . .
would be nice to see a q9650 for 100 quid

What is the best stepping for the E8400 and are there any other considerations with selecting the the most overclockable one?
Keep posting scotty365 and in three months you will be able to enter the OcUK Members Market, you will **** your pants at some of the cheap kit for sale there!![]()
Then that's a good reason to upgrade!I'm enjoying being a clockaholic and the E8400 is such a performer
One of the reasons I want to change is because my E2160 has been clocked 3-3.5 ghz for 3 years and running 24/7. I feel like retiring it and keep it for back-up. The other reason is I'm enjoying being a clockaholic and the E8400 is such a performer.
I'm considering the Q6600 also, but I dont REALLY need the extra cores right now.
Retiring? That's ridiculous... spend the money on a weekend break with your lady.
Even a baby E2160 is still a very powerful CPU when clocked to 3.6 GHz.
It may seem like that from a 3rd party POV but looking at it from an overclockers point of view it makes perfect sense . . . it's about the silicon, the numbers, the improvements etcThat's ridiculous...
Then that's a good reason to upgrade!
be careful though because you could end up like gurusan! . . . apparently he spent over £2000 swapping out chips looking for The One!![]()
Hopefully at least one of you plays Role-Playing-Games![]()
