wow, one furiously rattled cage there me thinks.

Is FS2004 much like FSX in terms of performance? meaning CPU power is far more essential than GPU power?

As far as im aware FSX uses more CPU power than it does GPU. That's the best game/simm I play. Would love to play COD but not sure my card will play it =o[

FS2004 is fairly oldschool in its demands GPU wise lots of brute force polygon pushing - so something based on the nVidia G92b core probably suits it best backed up with raw MHz so prolly an AMD CPU unless he wants to get into CPU overclocking proper.

Agree with the above post. A 9500gt is not suitable for 'heavy' gaming and your 'mate' gave you bad advice. No amount of overclocking will make your card good enough for heavy gaming I'm afraid.:(

Having used ATI all my life, I thought I would listen to my
mate. I love FS2004. I just want to play the odd game like.

I would be more interested in clocking my E4500 which I hear
is a good clocker? My card will run FS2004 like a dream ! As
far as I kinow FS2004 uses more CPU than it does GPU??

great thread..i prefer nvidia as the loaaaaaads way way much better that ATI:p
what do u guys think?

P.S. i know im a fanboy but Nvidia are THE BEST!

He has no right to call himself your m8 if he told you to go buy a 9500GT. If he told you to jump off a cliff would you do it?. To game I would say you need a minimum of a ATI 4850 or a nvdia 8800gts 512 version ( rebranded into countless other models too inc 250gts) then you will see what pc gaming is all about. FPS on pc are just miles better than anything on a ps3 or 360 as you use a keyboard and mouse, pad sare too slow and just not accurate enough.

A **** card = one that doesn't do what you need it to.

ATI vs NV....who cares...best performance @ X price is all that really matters (plus if the card looks sexy ;) )

yeah, the 9500GT is no gamers card! as other people have said a minimum would be an 8800GTS or an ati 4850 512mb or a 1024mb if you use higher resolutions!

I can't justify the $$ you guys spend on graphics cards but, only for it to become out of date in 6 months. I always loved ATI and this is my first Nvidia card. I will see how it goes, but im not about to spend £150+ on a card when I could buy a PS3 for not much extra, so what card would you guys buy on a budget of say £60?
