Am I allowed to slate DPD on here?

Why didn't you get it delivered to your place of work then?

cos for starters, I've only just started this new job and didn't want to been seen taking the p1$$ by having a big box delivered within my first week, second of all, I don't drive so lugging said big box around on public transport is pointless and thirdly, as I have mentioned already, my housemate is not working.

Well first off my housemate was not in the house cos she had 'plans' already. so even to sit in the house for an hour was not something she could do.
This is your fault, not DPD's.

So, I thought ok they will re-deliver on friday. They didn't even attempt said delivery because I looked on their site to keep track and it basically said:

Unable to deliver. Allocated time not enough. Or something along those lines.
The driver ran out of time. Unfortunately this does happen. This is why most couriers state they are 96 or 97% delivered on time, because they know things like this will happen.

I was not impressed. So I decided to ring the number this morning. Me and my housemate had popped out for me to pick up other stuff from the Post Office and do a bit food shopping. When we got back I was still trying to speak to someone on the phone when my housemate found a second calling card. They had been to re-deliver this morning at 9.35am! Of course I didn't know this as I didn't check the website for tracking as I thought maybe Monday will be the next working day...not saturday as most couriers dont class Saturday as a working day.
They've tried to do you a favour by getting the Saturday driver to deliver any failed midweek jobs

So I have been on the website and re-arranged for an upgrade delivery for Monday morning. Which I had to pay for but never mind.
You chose to pay for upgraded delivery, nobody forced you to. What I'd have done is telephoned DPD, explained what had happened (calmly, without screaming or crying) and asked if they would mind upgrading the delivery for Monday AM or similar.

I can understand you are annoyed that the driver ran out of time on Friday but these things happen, and he will not have prioritised your drop because you weren't in the previous day (leading him to think it was quite possible you would also not be in on Friday)

they're pretty good for me. the guy who delivers is also a legend :D always have a good bit of banter with him

I'll be honest tho, where I last worked I was always having OcUK stuff delivered there and the guy who always delivered, me and the lads in the office always had good banter with him.

I just want to clarify though, that I am not slating the fact that no one was in on thurs, I am more annoyed about them saying that they couldn't deliver on friday and that, according to them, saturday is a working day. Which in some cases yes it is, but I certainly now wish I had waited longer this morning before doing other stuff.

Never mind it's arranged for Monday so when I get home from work it will be here.

was picking it up from your local depot not an option after you missed the first delivery? I missed delivery from them a month or so back, i got on the phone to their customer service the same day I missed the parcel and they let me pick a time slot that night to go pick it up (picked 7:30pm)

They have been great all round for me, the only minor gripe is trying to find a phone number with an actual person on the end instead of an automated service. Couldn't see one on their webby but found it on google along with my local DPD depot's address

I did ring. I rang about 9.30am this morning as me and my housemate were on our way back from food shopping. I was on hold for a good 10min til we got home and saw the second calling card left. No one answered so that's when I hung up and re-arranged delivery for monday on the website. I could have arranged for collection but their depot is pretty much on the other side of Newcastle and didnt want my housemate to drive all that way.

DPD automatically re-arrange a 2nd delivery so picking up from depot was not an option unless 2nd delivery failed. Plus local depot is on other side of Newcastle (or Gateshead rather) so wouldn't want my housemate to drive all that way.

So lets get this straight:

- It's DPD's fault you've just started a new job and don't want anything delivered there
- It's DPD's fault that you don't want to carry a box on public transport
- It's DPD's fault you weren't in when they came to deliver
- It's DPD's fault that you don't want to go to the depot to pick up the parcel

Did I miss anything? ;)

DPD arent exactly what i would call the most reliable courier service, theyre no DHL or UPS, but still they aint bad, most of my stuff gets here on time - sorry your mouse didnt :)

Yes that sums it up as I see it. Nothing like taking responsibility.

Yes you did, the depot is on the other side of Newcastle (Gateshead rather) and I can't take a day off work to go and pick it up. Especially it being a new job and it's a contract job.

I chose not to have it delivered to work purely because where I work stuff gets screened and as I said it's a big box and didn't want to be seen taking the p1$$ at this new job. Plus I was not going to have my housemate drive all that way to pick it up for me.

So when you have quite finished pointing out the obvious reasons (to which I already know of thank you) come back with something more reasonable.

I am not blaming DPD 100% on the whole thing.

It isn't their fault at all.

You should have arranged for someone to be in at the time of delivery or picked a different day. If your house mate made a promise, and broke it, then be mad at them. It still has nothing to do with DPD.

Generally, it's not the company that is the problem, it's the drives you get on your runs.

I would agree with this. Its all down to how good the individual driver who is dealing with your delivery, is. Some drivers are a little dim and don't give a damn about making deliveries. Others want to deliver the parcel no matter what and will go the extra mile to successfully deliver the item. As an example, my local Parcelforce driver, attempted to deliver the same parcel 3 times in a single day, to me. He succeeded the 3rd time.

I've not had any problems with DPD, but have had some serious issues with CityLink.

Bad Courier - CityLink
One example was when I ordered a projector screen from Germany. The seller sent the screen on time.

A week later, I still hadnt received anything. Not even a note through my letterbox.

I contacted the seller, who in turn contacted the German courier, who in turn contacted CityLink, UK. The seller sent me a phone number to find out what was going on. Upon phoning them, they said they attempted delivery twice (liers). At this point I said, can you deliver tomorrow? What now ensued were a series of phone-calls and excuses why they couldn't deliver it. In the end it transpired that they had ran over the screen with a truck. The package was so damaged that they too embarrassed to attempt to deliver it to me. Rather than tell me the truth they made up a lot of stories which cost me another week or so.

In the end the seller had to send me another screen which arrived within 2-3 days (as scheduled).

The Best Service - Royal Mail/Parcelforce
Once I was awaiting a package. The seller had inadvertantly forgotten to write down a postcode or door number - hey only wrote down my name and street name...nothing else.

The package arrived a day later than scheduled, with a note saying, "In future write down the full address". I was in awe, given that Royal Mail managed to track down my address and deliver the parcel to me, using only my name. I'm positive that had Citylink or DPD been dealing with this parcel, it would've either been sent back to sender OR ended up in the bin.

I am already mad at my housemate and she knows this. But with DPD, it wasn't the first failed delivery I am mad with about, just not being able to deliver on friday and attempting to deliver today. Which I am glad they did attempt it, just didn't expect it that's all. But I guess you're right, it is my housemate I should really be having a go at.

DPD have been brilliant for me...along with Royal Mail as well...other courier companies ive had no end of problems with but DPD have been spot on for me.

If I am not allowed then please close thread.

I'm pretty sure OCUK would like feedback on how their couriers are performing. After all, OCUK pay the couriers to represent them to the customer. If the courier company performs badly, it reflects badly on OCUK. Hence, any feedback on courier performance will be happily received.

No courier service is 100% guaranteed, unless you pay lots of money, so it was just bad luck you missed them again and they couldn't deliver Friday.

Next time make sure someone [reliable] is in.

Sounds like DPD have given you an fairly good service, they came and you wasnt in, your fault, they couldnt deliver on friday due to time restraints, it was supposed to be on thursday anyway so this is fine. Then they tried to deliver on a saturday at 9:35, a time and day i would guess a lot of people who work during the week are indoors.

I dont see anything wrong with that to be honest. I think i would be happy if they did that for my deliveries. No offense intended but this does seem like you are just annoyed you dont have your package which you wasnt in to receive.

I myself have only had 2 experiences with DPD so far, both fine, came around 1pm, gave my door a loud knock. I received the package.
