rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

Anyone can learn to sing and perform.
It takes years to perfect the art of composition and song writing.

Wrong and wrong.
After having my own recording studios since the late 70's and working in clubs/pubs since 1970 not anyone can learn to sing & perform.
I think karaoke proves my point and no amount of tuition will get somebody better.

There are many artists who were writing cracking songs just after they picked up their instruments - Beatles, Buddy Holly, Noel Gallagher, Marc Bolan, David Bowie ................. and so on

Am I missing anything?

Yes -
Don't care that it won't actually do bugger all

But then its only costing me £1 that would otherwise get spent on sweets to achieve "bugger all".

Also, its just a bit of fun. I harbor no animosity towards the X-Factor but I would like to see Rage Against The Machine in the charts and now is as good a time as any to achieve that.

its interesting as a thought experiment imo...

Is there a song released which rips into blair, bush and co about the iraq war? I'd buy that.

also i'd buy a single which has as its title "bankers what a bunch of greedy censored"

Rubbish, people are very rarely naturally good singers or players, hand me anyone and I'll be able to teach them an instrument, or how to sing. Given enough time and patience.
Why did these people become famous, because they had talent as artists, not because they were handed a recording contract.

X factor is ruining the state of modern music, none of the people you named got famous as cover artists, they got famous through their own composition, they gained skill through covers but under it all they had talent as artists. Not just as singers/ players.

My point is, that in x factor they are not rated on how good an artist they are, they are rated on how good they are at karaoke, how they sing and perform, and then handed a recording contract. None of them have become credible artists when writing their own material.
Which is why it's so pointless, an artist or band, whatever takes your fancy, they should only become famous if they're any good, not because of some silly tv show.

Um dont know if anyone else has pointed this out yet

The most memorable line in arguably Rage's greatest moment is probably "**** you, I won't do what you tell me", which Morter describes as being "very apt"

Its apt that everyone else will do what he tells them too to deny X-factor a number one?

Hmm.....

What pathetic teenage rhetoric.

If people like the xfactor and the music they churn out, just let them  i don't see what the problem is. Everyone is free to make and buy any type of music they want.

Simon Cowell isnt eveil or 'killing music' (which doesnt even make sense). He just so happens to be a very clever man who knows how to make money.

I very much doubt that buying an equally commercialised bands' old single is going to make a blind bit of difference to anything.

Just a bit of fun, let people buy whichever they want & we'll see which wins :)

I'm in. Can't say I care about xfactor. But if as a collective group we can make a difference to the quality of music played on the radio then it's worth it if you ask me.

RATM deserve a little cash off me anyway.

Why are people bothered about the charts all they have ever proved is what is popular, its just a front to get people to buy tickets for tours and merchandise.
