Things to do in Glasgow

Highly, highly recommend the Cafe Andaluz tapas bar in Cresswell Lane. The food is amazing and the service is the best I have had for a long time while eating out. Place is really busy though so do consider booking first.

It's a 1 minute walk away from Ashton Lane ( start at one end, fall out the other :D ). Bar Buddah and the Ubiquitous Chip are just along the road from it too. Cafe Mao in Brunswick street is also a cracking place to eat if you like authentic Asian food.

And for what it's worth, Glasgow's reputation for a dodgy place is undeserved. There are certainly areas that you would not want to visit but then every city has those. I've seen more hassle and trouble on a night out in Edinburgh and Falkirk than Glasgow. Given the choice, I'd take Glasgow's nightlife over Edinburgh any day of the week.

Yeah ashton lane is good for food/bars, expensive though :O

Well actually I say expensive its not particulary for average people, but for students used to £1 drinks nights and £1.50 for a pint at the union it is :o.

well yeah its right near uni and has some pretty reasonable prices for food and stuff, also some classier students are willing to pay more for the bars there :p I however will stick to the glasgow university unions :p.
 
Ashton Lane is a great place for a night out, try Jinty McGinty's on a Wednesday night to take in the act that is 'Big George' and treat yourself to an evening of traditional Scottish and Irish songs accompanied with plenty of good beer. Where food is concerned, there is a curry shop directly upstairs or you could cross over to Ruthven Lane and take in my favourite restuarant, Di Maggios (West End).

Ignore all the idiots who have never been to Glasgow, stick to the city centre and West End and you'll be fine. Remember to take in the Science Centre, Burrell Collection, Hunterian Museum, Art Gallery, Goma and the IMAX theatre. Have fun.

We used to live on Parkgrove Terrace and Ashton Lane was a pleasant 5 minute walk away. Di Maggios is decent (the murder of the staff excluded) and there are many other great places to eat and, more importantly, drink.

I suspect the OP is now drunk and unaware of these updates though ;)

lol... Still not decided yet, had a little saunter around the city centre earlier, will probably have a gander in some of the places mentioned over the next few days, as I'm not much of a drinker I really won't be checking out pubs or clubs.
