James Cameron's 'Avatar' - The next gen of cinema

I would love to see all the star wars movies again with this style of 3D. Finally Cameron has gone beyond the 3D gimmicks of a spear thru the screen.

There supposedly doing Star Wars... And there's talk of T2 being done as well!

Anyone seen Avatar in IMAX Cinema?

Im a massive fan of Sci-Fi so im really tempted to see 'that movie' in IMAX. Alas i live in Nottingham so want to find out if anyone's seen it in standard cinema vs IMAX cinema & if its worth the travel.

Anyone else pick up on the complete rip off (even though it was probably thought of before) of the Matrix but just captured through a different medium?

The Matrix?

The plot is almost identical to that of Dances with Wolves, how is it a Matrix rip off? :p

Good. Didn't want someone else driving to the metro centre thinking "Surely at that price no many will bother" To find it was fully booked for days lol

Enjoy :). Think I'm going in the new year.

It's basically Dances with Wolves + Fern Gully + Titanic with blue space monkeys.

I agree, saw it in 3D, but got pretty bored during it. Visuals are amazing, but everything else is average at best. The story is clichéd and predictable, whilst acting excluding the main girl (imo) wasn't amazing.

I ended up looking at my watch around 5 times during the movie as it dragged on and on.

Did Cameron rape your children or something in a previous life?

LOL! :p

ps: Have you seen it yet? :)

No, but this guy has:

I'm still trying to find a place to see it in 3D. We don't even have an IMAX here. :(

I don't get your antics? From the outset you've seemed to have been on some mission to bash this film?
- You quote speak as if you've seen it - when you haven't.
- You generalise and quote people out of context.
- And quote people who solely allow you to have another little dig, when probably their opinion are the exception?

Anyway, I don't know what your problem is... Do you?

Personally, I feel it's Cameron's weakest/poorest script (for his major films). There are also a couple of high cheese factor moments, and some generally lack-lustre performances - But for some reason it still pulls it off. If he'd managed to get a more intelligent script in there it would have been truly one of the most epic scifi films ever, but as it is, with all it's failings, it's still a good watch.

Infact, I'm off to watch it again, which is something I've not done for ten+ years.
