British man to be exectuted by Chinese

You can have money and be mentally ill. There's many fabulously wealthy people with histories of mental illness.

Fair point :)

I don't think there is enough info on his circumstances/mental health to make a judgement on the rights and wrongs in this case.

I don't really see much grey, depending on your view on how to treat criminals with mental health issues. He took a risk and it didn't pay off. Very unfortunate for him but that's how it goes.

I just read up on the other crimes that could get you executed in PRC. If we applied those laws, most of our politicians would be dead along with most of the city bankers.

Makes a good deterrent though eh?

Hmm....what if somebody close to you was in a similar situation?

Would I be more upset? Yes.

Would it change the situation? No.

This is a law, in China. He broke the law in China. In China, they don't take into account disabilities.

I love watching these leftie HR protestors on the news. "Oh, we want him assessed, we want fair punishments..." etc. Here's a little tip for you. It's not your decision to make.

So someone who potentially wasn't responsible for their actions wanders into somewhere where they execute people for something that he goes onto do - and we should just say oh well thats what they do there?

I've been following this for a few days and to be honest from what I've read and seen I can accept that he has some form of mental incapacity and you only need to here his rabbit song to back this up.

Should that be taken into consideration by the Chinese, and I think they should, but it's their country and their laws. Whether we agree or not is irrelevant. Should this mans sentence be commuted, and I strongly believe that will happen, will be done purely for political reasons and nothing else.
