Oh how the mighty have fallen

What is it about Ireland that makes it the best place in the world to live then according to that? I'm sure its a lovely place but I cannot see it being that much different from here - certainly some of the taxation there is ridiculously punative and the climate is no different either. Yet its the best in the world

I was thinking the same denmark/norway/sweden/switzerland - i.e the countries that are rich and have small populations should be at the top of these surveys.

This is more accurate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index

Only place I'd move to are Canada, Sweden, Denmark or Norway. Don't fancy anywhere else that I've visited!

UK is a great place to live, don't see why people get so down on it. If the grass is greener elsewhere then sod off and eat theirs :)

And we are falling in all the indexes, and are certainly not as high as I'm sure many of us would hope

Vive la France! :D :D :D

Though France does suffer big problems in terms of unemployment, dissatisfaction towards government, excessive bureaucracy and red tape, and immigration and non domiciled residents. However it's based on Cost of Living, Culture and Leisure, Economy, Environment, Freedom, Health, Infrastructure, Safety and Risk, and Climate... from that aspect alone and from my experience it is pretty good - though no way I'd have put it as #1.

I'll be taking this with a pinch of salt, I never trust these sort of things. Interesting how an increasing number of Eastern European countries are sneaking in the top 25 - I guess you can see where the new money is now.

Without giving too much away about Spie's personal life, his hollowed out volcano is truly a site to behold, but he won't let you feed the piranha.

Atfer hearing that Wolverhampton had been classed as the 5th worst city in the World, I don't really listen to these review things anymore.

I mean, srsly, Wolvo isn't great, but i'd rather live there than like, Mogadishu, which wasn't featured...

I would never leave the UK, home-wise.

It is where I was born. It's my home. I'm proud of being British.

I do agree that the UK has a number of problems, however we also have some great reasons to stay too.
