Hello, I'm making a leap of faith here and say that GTA4 is a HDR lighting game yes? If that is the case some of Nvidia cards have real issues supporting AA and HDR at the same time, BUT there is a solution. Download yourself a program called Nhancer www.nhancer.com once you have this great tool installed you need to go into its options (if needed i will give a better explanation later of how to do this I'm just not on my home PC) under compatibility options for HDR set it to "oblivion" and now u should be able to use either the Nvidia control panel or Nhancer itself to decide what AA you want to run.
hope that helps
apparently this works, also 180.84 driver seems to work for most people,i dont know about ATI gpus
