I have the game on console and on pc, first thing I did when i got pc ver on steam sales was load them both up on the same monitor. Needless to say the console ver looks hideous in comparison

i used to have a ps3 and this game and it looked a lot better than the pc,i had the ps3 version connected to a full 1080p HD monitor and it looked better than the pc unless the pc was on maximum settings or close to it.only reason i got it on the pc is because i got it for free and even then i couldnt be bothered to play it even on uber maximum settings cause its rather ****
This game seems to be very tri+ cpu intensive and hates dual cores. I also find for graphics it doesn't need a powerful card just loads of vram which sucks you have 2 4870's xfired that it looks like mud with a hint of grey.
I need to get that AA mod - i just couldn't carry on playing with all those jaggy edges. How vain is that!

So not only do you have the world's only PC that can force AA without a mod, you also have the world's only PC that makes the game look worse than on the consoles despite it having a better spec.

well on my monitor it looked better on ps3 at 1080 full HD,maybe you have a **** monitor,i dont need to prove what i think to you,i tried to help out,thought i was doing good by using the techniques that i used.
ps3 can't render gta4 at 1080p
apparently u can or ok maybe i got it wrong but i do prefer the game on the ps3 if i was to play it,i think it just looks better,even better than the high settings i had

maybe you should buy a HDMI lead for your ps3 instead of the standard scart that you get in the box with the ps3(that is if you REALLY do own a ps3) and a decent monitor that is HD ready

You can set the output to whatever you like, the PS3 can't render GTA4 at 1080p, it's just upscaling a 720p image to 1080p before outputting to the TV.
Also, your gold plating on your HDMI lead is irrelevant, it doesn't make any difference
If your PS3 version honestly looked better than it did on your PC then there was something severely severely wrong with your PC, as even though it's not the best looking game around, it looks far better than it does on a console.

i dont know about all that upscalling stuff that you talked about,all i know is that the game ran in 1080p HD and it looked great,but did not stop me from selling my inferior ps3.

If you put a old dvd in your ps3 it will out put at 1080p if you set it to but all it;s doing is up scaling a much smaller resolution.

When have I ever claimed to own a PS3? I've only played it on a mates on his PS3, who is fully HDMI'd up. My PC version looked streets ahead, and every comparison shot I've seen on the interweb shows the PC version looking streets ahead.

Thought you might be interested in side by side comparative screenshots. Can't comment on the settings used for the PC shots beyond I have similar quality on my 4890 and fps is between 40 - 50 when a lot is going on
Post processing on the console screen gives a warmer image imo but the PC screens are obviously crisp and detailed. Except for the city at night on the consol - wtf.
