Valentine's Day

Personally, valentine's day annoys me, why should I make the extra effort for one day? surely the relationship shouldn't need a specific day set aside to show my feelings, I'm much more a fan of random surprises throughout the relationship, little things that are more fun and mean more

and when not in a relationship, I don't particularly want ith shoved in my face constantly, tv adverts, decorations in shops, it's just one of those annoying "holidays" that as men, we're forced into abiding by to appease the women folk, and, like a sucker, I'll conform when I'm with someone just so they don't feel like I've made no effort, when I make the effort the rest of the year

It's lose-lose :/ :p

A nice cornish pasty...

On a more bitter yet serious note. Media hype will have you spending twice as much as you would do normally on such stuff like flowers chocolates and meals out.
Do something original and off the wall, make it personal rather than going with the flow and you'll be on to a winner.

Just going out for dinner.

Same, not because we have to mind but because we don't go out to often for a meal (usually order in). The occasion is just a reason to go out for a nice meal once in a while.

Sometimes treating YOURSELF and your other half is not such a bad thing.

Who said you must do something? Stay at home and do nothing if you want to.

Yea, that's a double bluff if I ever saw one..

I bet you get moned at for not doing / getting her something :p

your reasoning is fair enough, making time for each other and all, especially if you don't normally do something, but why specifically valentines day? why not set aside one day each month at least for proper old fashioned romance, dinner, dancing, wooing et al, it's the little things that matter more to women than massive one off gestures I've found

besides, you tried doing nothing when you're dating a girl on Valentine's day?! uh-oh spaghetti-O's! :p

Girl I'm seeing doesn't believe in the commercialism of valentines.

Result! :D

keeper right there ;)

My girlfriend and i have mutually agreed that valentines day is a stupid idea - and that we don't need a commercial day forcing us to be extra nice to eachother for one day of the year.. because are like that anyway.

So it's cancelled. result.

Though... it's probably more to do with the fact that she is a commitophobe

I'd buy her a card and flowers anyway if I were you.

Tell her people on the internets think she's... O.o

haha.. it works though, because i have the same opinion.. i refused to buy my ex-girlfriend flowers because i think they are a crappy gift.

expressing your love for someone by killing a plant and having them watch it die in front of them over the next two weeks seems.. silly to me.

I don't know what to do valentine's day either.
We have only been "going out" for 2 weeks so valentines will be about a month, i don't want to do anything over the top but at the same time i want to put the effort in. I'm thinking a rose and a meal but not sure. :(

Well, when you put it like that...

Just booked a meal and hotel room. Should be fun!
