Blackberrys.................

No i dont work for Blackberry...my knowledge comes from people that i know within RIM aka Blackberry over in America and Canada...my bro out in Canada works very closely with RIM so i get my info and knowledge from him first hand..

Yes it is tough on the battery...plus the memory isnt so great on it but you should if you havent, put a new updated OS on it...the new OS5 has just been made official...although i havent put it on mine as mine is now retired..been replaced with the 9700 and Storm2 which are totally awesome device.

Just head over to the link in my sig for the biggest and best place for BB's

I am interested in the Storm2, is it good?

Yes it is...much better than the Storm1 from last yr...absolutely love mine but i suggest you pop into a vodafone store and see if they have one you can play with...it might not suit you as its pretty different to other touchscreen phones out on the market.

unfortunately i cannot get the 9700 , 9000 is the best BB vodafone has atm here...

Still a very very good handset..i still have mine and have intent of selling it unless i need to desperately.

Have you looked into importing one??..pretty sure www.expansys.com might ship one out to you or youc ould try ebay but just make sure you buy one from a reputable seller.

I had the 8900 curve for around 10 months and I got a love/hate relationship with it
The overall usage of the phone work well such as push email and the keyboard,
But the bloody scroll ball is a headache I recently had to change it because of trap
Dust and now my new one is playin up !!!!!!!!!
I would deffo get the 9700 as it has the newer trackpad and ignore gettin the 8900

I had a 8900 and would have recommended it at the time but after upgrading to the 9700 I realised that the 8900 was flawed. The trackball is awful, it was horrid to use I couldn't scroll right with it after a couple of months as it lost contact with the sensors. UMA calling has been a god-send with the 9700 as well as it's impossible to get reception inside my house. I'd personally wait for the 9700 to come out on Vodafone or get the 9000 Bold.

I used to use a 8300 Curve and it was a really nice solid phone for picking up emails and organising appointments etc. But I wanted a better browser so moved on.

9700 has been out on vodafone since Nov last yr;)

the 9000 has the trackball, right?

Yes it does...still a very good handset but after some use the trackball can clog up..mine used to but a quick wipe it was good as gold.

Ermmm you cant sell phones on here, i hope you do realise that so if i was you id edit your post:)...as for selling it your better off trying ebay or those mobile recycle places as you wont get much if at all for the 8300 now...its a very old phone.

Guys, what are the account requirements in order to use push email on a blackberry?

I have a virgin.net account and with my previous handsets I've used either pop/imap but I've had to manually connect to be able to receive them...

Cheers, SW

All you need is a BIS plan from your network...once you have that you can add just about any email you want:)...and it should 'push' email to your device.

Get a Blackberry Info Service on your contract and then head over to your providers BIS website (e.g http://www.o2email.co.uk/ for O2) and set up your emails from there.

Put in your devices PIN and IMEI and your away.
You can also do it from your device by setting up a personal email. Should work so long as your email server has IMAP4

I got myself a Storm 1 from eBay really cheap. Took a bit of a gamble because there was very little description in the ad but it came boxed in perfect condition with LOADS of extras. A lot of people moan about it but OS5.0 on mine works wonderfully. Cant fault it. Will swap for a Storm2 when the come down in price though as I would quite like WIFI

yeap storm1 is a very nice device but the lack of wifi makes you think what were they thinking in RIM when they were designing it....

If i remember correctly it was Verizon who said to RIM that they didnt want WIFI which ticked off a lot of people because its quite silly for a device now to not have WIFI built in...Vodafone own a share of Verizon so they had to bow down to it.

At least with the Storm2 it does have WIFI which is an added bonus as the Blackberry browser on 3G can be painfully slow at the best of times...but with WIFI its faster...on mine its blazing fast probably due to the fact that i have 20mb line and synch at 1.8mb down and 2mb up.

Depends on how much you want to spend??...ive seen them going for around £200 unlocked...im tempted to sell mine which is unlocked and sim free but will find it hard to let go as i still love it even though its been replaced by the 9700 now so is just sitting in its box.
