Apple's January 27th Event

*facepalm*

Still no file manager it seems the way this iWork thing is going.

Well iWorks'09 has cloud integration already. Also with only 16-64GB the iPad isn't going to have much storage locally. A dock/sync with your iMac means you could backup but that's not really a beautiful solution.

My concern is relying on the appstore for stuff. I don't particularly like Safari but where's the Firefox alternative? How can I set up an addblocker? How can I sync my bookmarks without MobileMe? My gut reaction is that this is going to be too tied down as to what I could run on it.

What a load of rubbish. Not sure I could be any more underwhelmed. Wow, a big iphone. Wooooo. Imagine holding it up for 2 hours to watch a film and no flash! Why????

Very expensive toy.

Can't see a real use for it, or why anyone would buy it instead of a netbook or even a 12" macbook.

Looks nifty, well out of my price range though I imagine :)

If I happened to come into some cash, I'd definitely consider it as a replacement to my netbook which is getting on 18months old or so now.

That said, I like the way the ION netbooks are going, so would probably still lean towards one of them.

I will reserve judgement until I have seen the full specification and had a play. No doubt it will find a trendy niche market and end up in many people’s cupboards.

Maybe they're banking on HTML5 to make flash plug-ins redundant.

Flash is a dirty word in Apple's orchard. Everyone blamed Safari for crashing and in the last large update they split off the Adobe flash plugin into a separate process and guess what was causing all the crashes..

Ewww cable sync.. where's the WiFi sync?

10$ for EACH app (I.e. 10$ for Pages, 10$ for Keynote etc.)

Bad move in my opinion... would have been better if it was bundled :(
