Apple's January 27th Event

Also interestingly no multi-tasking... so all the iPhone limitations about running applications makes running this as a desktop replacement with a dock a hard fail.

It also means that to publish any application to the iPad you need to be a developer and pay cash yearly.. no apps just loaded onto it as the app will have to be digitally signed (unless you jailbreak it).

But the thing is, when Apple launched the iPhone, did everyone instantly think about the ramifications for mobile internet use?
Yes, absolutely they did.

This does what Kindle does (barring the free 3G), plus all the normal netbook-esque functionality.

I think that if Apple have done this well (in conjunction with all the publishers and big newspapers) this could finally kick off e-reading properly.
It lets you read books, the battery life sucks compared to the Kindle and the screen tech will mean it's nothing like as comfortable to read on, I don't know if you've seen a eInk screen in real life but assuming you haven't there is a world of difference and this is why it's not a Kindle competitor.

The new iPhone OS is bringing multi-tasking to it isnt it? So why would you bring out an "amazing piece of technology" that can't multitask like the phone it's been inspired by :/

Was that a quote from an intern that had started a mere 7 days from recording that video? :p

I'm guessing Jobs counts designing their own processor (the first time they have ever done a custom chip???) as being the most technically advanced thing he's done.

Exactly, eInk is the only way to read ebooks for me. Reading huge walls of text on a bright screen kills my eyes.
