Apple's January 27th Event

I know i am getting one but such a long wait though !

Can I ask why? I personally can't see where it fits in between a smartphone/iPhone and a fullblown laptop or netbook.

It's not going to be a good eBook reader due to the LCD display, it's not fast, it looks a little cumbersome to use.

It lets you read books, the battery life sucks compared to the Kindle and the screen tech will mean it's nothing like as comfortable to read on, I don't know if you've seen a eInk screen in real life but assuming you haven't there is a world of difference and this is why it's not a Kindle competitor.

Fair enough, and I haven't.

Alas... my predictions came true. Shame cos' I really wanted a full OSX tablet rather than a large screen ipod.

We will see. If the business model is published content delivery (i.e. books, magazines, papers) then it needs to be a volume product in order to be viable. They need to sell it in closer to ipod quantities (v.high) than macbook (relatively low).

So as a check the "large ipod" option has...
1. £500 - affordable (x)
2. Does not cannibalise macbook (x)
3. Does not require 2nd 3G contract (x)
4. Existing app base (x)
5. High battery life (x)
6. Does not have the comedy value of making you to put a large tablet close to your ear to make a call (it can't do calls) (x)
7. Application and content delivery by Itunes (x)
