Counter-Strike Pro Mod

while i wouldnt say your not qualified to speak about it, as the length of time you have put in playing in clans in my oppinions make you know enough about the game irrelevant of your skill level, your right in saying it is aimed at 1% of CSS players. its not for public (99% of players) its not for lets mix it up and play a war on irc, its for clans who treat it as an "e-sport" (cringe at that name) and want this "sport" to live on.

Thats not what I said at all. Im just saing your idea of 'competetive' CSS is pretty low level stuff, I also imagine you've barely played CS in your life and you could barely list a difference between CSS and CS if you had to - So how are you going to know where CSS fails in comparison?

What PESolution is something I forgot to mention tbh. I read somewhere that CSP is made so it can be easily ported to near enough any engine from hear on in, so in theory it can always stay fresh and current. Not really sure how that works, but if true it will help the life span of CS hugely.

I actually completely disagree with this 1% claim. It is a superiour game, be it on public, in mixes, or in competitions. I played a few mixes of it last night, and I imagine I will for a good while to come. Its by no means just meant for CPL level players or whatever - Just anyone who is sick of CSS' faults.

Correct, i mentioned before its not really a mod, because they started from nothing other than the SDK. This means they have 100% of the code and can reasonably easily swap it across to a different engine as / when needed to keep consistency of gameplay and allow for graphical updates as time goes on

Its superior yes, but it's not aimed at this, your not going to get Joe Bloggs pick up CS Source on steam / in a store and then decide to go and install a third party mod for it / but equally for those who do play CS Pro Mod they arnt going to go back to source and ruin their recoil control!

To little to late as far as pro mode is concerned. I imagine pro mod will still have its flaws and even if it was perfect, will never be adopted by the tournament organisers.

As much as I dont want that to be the case, I think youre right. Although, having said that, it will only take one big competition to adopt it to get the ball rolling.

the tournament organisers adopt what the sponsors support so its all about getting their backing really. I think its gona be a lot down to the top teams and whether they decide to support it or not.

And its going to be "community controlled" apparently, so if theres a bug that people dont like / a change that people want, majority wins...

P.S. Guano Apes... Open your eyes! what a tune! from a classic CS movie if i recall correctly, Adrenaline 2.

Indeed :D kick started my love for Guano Apes.

Funnily enough on friday night for the first time in maybe 7 or 8 months I had a craving for some 1.6, could not for the life of me find anyone to mix with so had to just jump on some DM :(

It IS what you said mate. Read your posts.

You both have different opinions, same as I do. One of you thinks it's restricted for just a few players, the other thinks it should become more popular. I'd suggest it will just make the split between 1.6 and CSS players even worse by adding another thing to split to :)

I started playing cs at 1.0 by the way. I personally cant see the point of a mod that no one will know or play except 1% of the players, however, if thats what they want that fine obviously.

i didnt say it was restricted to 1% I said it was aimed at 1%. And that 1% is 100% of competative players. I couldnt care what mr public plays on. Mind you thats an exageration it should be perhaps 10%

As above, what i meant by 1%, is all of the people who play cs in leagues competatively, which is a huge minority as most people are joe public and play it as they do any other game.

The mod is aimed for the e-sport CS not the mess around on public (however this will be improved as a result, not only as it wont contain many noobs anymore)

I wasnt quoting you was I ? :p

Anyway, that statement depends on what you call competative I suspect.

I believe i started the 1% quote :P What I mean by competative, is anybody who plays wars, not necesarrily anybody who is at the highest standard. This is not a mod aimed for public, however it will improve it as a result..

..which actually is one of the reasons I enjoyed my public games so much last night.. there were no noobs :P they were full of skilled players tryign it out it was awesome to play public and be challenged :P

In an ideal world pro mode would be what CS:S should have been. Instead of creating a divide between CS 1.6 and CS:S we would have one community completely infused into pro mode.

That is never going to happen though, the source players that play source competitively are more than happy with their game, leagues and tournaments.

1.6 players are pretty much happy with their game, leagues and tournaments despite the falling numbers.

Pro mode has therefore missed the boat as both communities are contempt with the game they have.

Its really not?

Regardless though, youre right in the fact that most of the new players who just download CSS off Steam probably wont find out about it for a while, or see the point/care once they are used to CSS. But to be honest, thats not really an issue - If the minority competetive players adopt it, it will still be an improvement. If it manages to merge the CS and CSS competetive scenes, that would be even better.

Time will tell.. But yeah, I cants see it happening.
