Counter-Strike Pro Mod

Why didnt they release 1.7...

Back in the day it was one of the most popular games out to play online, all major Tournaments were using 1.6 as their main events.

I played at many big Tournaments for my clan at the time 4K

Then why didnt 1.6 get updated, i know Source came out but it makes NO SENSE why they would just leave it like that..

James, I THINK, and i might be wrong, but didnt valve buy the rights of counter-strike off the guy who made the mod, and then the big stupid company decided to **** the competative scene off by releasing a game as rubbish as source ^^
 
I'll have to give this a little look when I get home. Haven't played competitively in years. Haven't even played 1.6 in awhile, I just DM css if I can be bothered. I used to mix on 1.6 all the time, was an admin on one of them aswell, not a clue which it was though :|

It's quite obvious to any CS player that CSS is broken, not sure why any of you are arguing the opposite.

Thats how I understand it as well, sort of. I think Gooseman and Cliffe (christ I cant believe I remember that) went to go and work at Valve for Source though - No idea how they ballsed it up so bad.
 
they ballsed it up mate, because there is a huge difference between:

a mod being made / develeoped / supported by the 'community' (kind of) for the community

a company who are driven by money. and its the public players who are the majority so cater for them not the minority of competetive players
 
Just played the mod, it's a lot better than when it was first released years ago, quite a lot of servers populated too.

Have they improved the netcode? It feels "different"
 
Gah, needs CS: S to play and there's no way I'll be touching that pre-ejaculation of a game compared to the thundering erection that was 1.6.
 
After a few mixes, Im liking it so far over all.

Theyve nerfed spray a bit too hard imo though.. Its literally just a no go, even on a eco rush or something.

you didnt play again a "Jags" from your mixes last night did u?
 
Wow I'll have to check this out, I played with Vereor Gaming in CSGN and SGL years back in 1.6. Gave Source a go here and there since then, it's not a terrible game but it's not on the level I would've said 1.6 was.
 
the duck (slight glance over box) bug in CS was amazing for awping through boxes, but it was a bit unfair :p
