I have decided to buy an i3 bundle. I need the i3 CPU, Motherboard and 4gig of ram.

Can some kind person spec these up for me please? Not sure what motherboard and ram to get. Many thanks.

Most people seem to be going with:

i3 530
Gigabyte H55M-UD2H

+ 4GB of whatever 1600MHz is best value

Not sure on budget, but here you go:
CPU: Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz
MB: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9)
:)

It'll be a very speedy little setup :) The onboard graphics won't run many games, except maybe WoW and stuff like that, but will be fine for watching HD videos which is generally what it's designed for.

Also the UD2H is a solid board and you'll probably get a very nice overclock from the i3 with that board/cpu/cooler combo.

dont waste your time i3 arent worth it let big wayne spec you an amd rig instead im sure he can find something cheap with onboard gfx on the mobo which would be faster than the intel oncore crud.

if you cant afford an i5 750 then theres not much point buying intel imo.

Steady Eddie! :D

I'm just asking very simple questions . . . me and cavonia are mates although he is *dead* set about getting an INTEL® system (which of course is his entitlement) but cannot, willnot consider AMD® . . . I'm always curious about these things! :)

Not true.. i3s generally cost a little bit more over an 'equivalent' AMD setup, but they almost always clock like beasts.

So apart from

Being only £275
Being faster in games than Athlon II X4 Quad Cpu's
Using significantly less power
Being able to stream HD master Audio without the need for Sound cards
Being able to clock to 4ghz with ease
Having all the lastest instruction sets
And being 32nm

Looks like a good deal then? Might just plump for that or should i go for this spec that i mentioned in another thread:

I know it is socket 775!! That mobo any good? I only want onboard graphics.

Is that CPU as good as or better than say an AMD tri core 720 CPU?
